Senior Tax Accountant
This role offers an excellent opportunity for a seasoned tax professional to join a dynamic and growing team at our corporate offices. - Assist the Tax Director in managing all aspects of income tax compliance for the company, including federal, state, and local income, franchise, and other taxes
- Prepare detailed schedules for federal, state, and local income tax compliance, including state and city apportionment schedules for a large consolidated federal group
- Prepare detailed schedules for federal and state tax compliance and capital account maintenance for various partnership returns
- Assist in transfer pricing Excel modeling in a large Excel workbook
- Prepare supporting schedules for corporate income tax accounting under ASC 740
- Prepare and review fixed asset schedules to assist in the calculation of tax depreciation prepared by outside accountants
- Conduct tax research as needed and formally document conclusions
- Review work papers for compliance and quarterly estimates, and prepare work papers as needed
- Ensure items on the Tax Calendar are completed accurately and on time, and help maintain the Tax Calendar
- Complete, maintain, and monitor adherence to departmental policies and procedures
- Assist with federal, state, and local audits and notices for income and non‑income taxes
- Assist with SOX documentation and walk‑throughs by auditors
- Support the integration of acquisitions
- Improve processes, including capturing data at the source
- Undertake other projects as requested
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; a Master’s degree and/or CPA preferred
- CPA certificate or enrolled agent status is preferred
- 3+ years of experience in a tax or accounting position, with superior Excel skills
- High proficiency in using Excel spreadsheets, Word, automated tax preparation software (Corp Tax experience is a plus), general ledger software (SAP is a plus), and depreciation software (FAS is a plus)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong customer service and organizational skills
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills, with a high attention to detail
