Position: WORK STUDY GRANT STUDENTS ONLY- Career Planning Student Asst.
Schedule:

Flexible, Monday-Friday, 8-15 hours per week

Job Summary:

Provides customer service and orientation to career services and resources and performs clerical tasks. Assists in specific areas such as public relations and event planning, database projects, social media, and editing resumes depending on office needs. In addition, as CP&D is an office within the Cox Compass Center, you will at times field questions and take messages for other CCC offices.

Duties/Responsibilities:

This job description is not to be construed as an exhaustive statement of duties, responsibilities, or requirements. Employees may be required to perform other job-related duties as requested by the supervisor, subject to reasonable accommodation.

* Provide customer service and orientation to career services and resources such as career assessments, website, resumes, internships, job listings, graduate school, and programming. Be a positive and professional representative for the CP&D office and events.

* Answer phone, schedule appointments, and maintain job listings/Handshake events.

* Assist with specific functional areas such as public relations (e.g. Compass Center Instagram, The Mirror, KDRU) and event planning, database projects, or editing resumes.

* Make data collection calls for the First Destination Survey to recent alumni about post-graduation plans on a weekly to monthly basis (estimated 7-10 hours per month, or more frequently as needed).

* Perform general clerical work such as computer work, filing, and copying.

* Attend meetings with CP&D staff members and special events as needed and schedule permits.

Required Skills/Abilities:

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. All job requirements listed indicate the minimum knowledge, skills, and/or ability deemed necessary to perform the job proficiently. * Must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills in order to assist visitors and callers.

* Must possess a general clerical and technical work aptitude.

* Knowledge of the Internet.

* Knowledge of Microsoft Word and database entry.

* Must be able to work at least 7 hours per week.

* Must be able to work in at least 2-hour blocks of time.

* Ability to solve problems and think critically and independently.

* Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Education and Experience:

* Must be a regular, full-time student, enrolled in at least 12 hours per semester

* Must have a completed FAFSA on file with Financial Aid for the current academic year
