Position Overview
Senior Automotive Technician. Responsible for diagnosing and repairing customer vehicles with accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to MAP guidelines and manufacturer repair standards.
Compensation$35.00/Hr. – $45.00/Hr. (flag rate) depending on experience and certifications.

- Diagnose vehicles according to the appropriate level of certifications/experience.
- Perform work as outlined on the Multi‑point Inspection and/or Repair Order with efficiency and accuracy.
- Perform complex and heavy‑duty repairs.
- Explain technical diagnosis and needed repairs to non‑mechanical individuals, including the Store Manager, Service Consultants and/or customers.
- Recommend services necessary to keep the customer’s vehicle in running condition; properly document all recommendations in the customer file.
- Follow all safety procedures and report any concerns to the direct supervisor.
- Work flexible schedules, including weekends as needed but never Sundays.
- Adhere to Sun Auto’s core values, all company policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Previous automotive technician/mechanic experience required.
- ASE certifications acceptable in lieu of experience.
- Demonstrated ability to use computerized equipment for diagnostics.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess a State Inspector License or be able to obtain one within 30 days of hire (in applicable locations).
- High School Diploma or equivalent;
Technical School experience preferred.
The Senior Automotive Technician will be exposed to moderate to loud noises, dust, exhaust fumes, lubricants, petroleum products, vapors, caustic materials, and other hazardous and non‑hazardous materials. Temperature may vary, including extreme heat and/or cold. PPE such as safety goggles may be required.
- Stand up to eight hours per day in the shop and walk to access various areas of the building.
- Bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch regularly; maintain full range of motion with arms and hands.
- Lift or move up to 10 pounds regularly; lift or move up to 70 pounds frequently.
- Communicate with customers and shop personnel.
- Vision sufficient to detect color, depth, and re‑focus.
