Job Title: T&D Senior Site Safety & Health Specialist
Location: Nationwide (Project‑Based Travel Required)
Job Type: Contract / Project‑Based
T&D Senior Site Safety & Health Specialist to support transmission and distribution construction projects across the United States. This role is responsible for leading and implementing site‑specific safety programs while providing professional Safety & Health leadership to project management teams in a heavy construction environment. The ideal candidate will ensure field operations are executed safely, in compliance with all regulatory requirements, and aligned with company safety objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and administer project‑specific Safety & Health programs on field construction projects to ensure work is executed safely and according to established procedures.
- Manage site safety program deliverables and address site‑specific safety and health compliance questions or concerns.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal OSHA regulations and applicable safety standards.
- Drive company safety initiatives with the goal of achieving and maintaining zero safety incidents.
- Conduct regular safety performance reviews, audits, and assessments to verify compliance with corporate and regulatory standards.
- Initiate and manage work stoppages when conditions present immediate danger to life or health, and collaborate with project leadership on corrective actions.
- Partner with project teams and subcontractors to promote best safety practices and maintain regulatory compliance.
- Perform site safety assessments before work begins and implement corrective actions where needed.
- Coordinate directly with client safety teams to address safety concerns, implement preventative measures, and strengthen working relationships.
- Conduct project safety walkthroughs and ensure corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner.
- Lead and deliver Safety & Health training relevant to project activities.
- Review near misses, property damage, environmental incidents, and accident investigations, recommending corrective actions and improvements.
- Maintain all safety documentation and reports in an audit‑ready state, including daily field safety reports.
- Communicate safety goals, initiatives, and awareness to project personnel to foster a safe and productive work environment.
- Travel to and support multiple project sites as required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or Construction Management with 7+ years of relevant experience, or
- Associate's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or Construction Management with 9+ years of relevant experience, or
- High School Diploma/GED with 11+ years of relevant safety or construction management experience.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA Construction and General Industry Regulations.
- Familiarity with ANSI, NIOSH, Army Corps of Engineers EM 385‑1, and National Electrical Code (NEC) standards.
- Experience supporting high‑voltage transmission, distribution, and substation projects (minimum 5 years preferred).
- Professional certification such as Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP), Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) credential, or equivalent.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work flexible schedules based on project demands.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel between project sites.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- OSHA 10‑Hour Construction Outreach Training required (minimum).
- OSHA 30‑Hour Construction Outreach Training preferred.
