Sheet Metal Estimator
gpac, a 30+ years recruitment company, is partnered with a well-established company in the HVAC, Plumbing & Piping industry. We are seeking a talented Sheet Metal Estimator to join our client's dynamic team. If you have a passion for construction estimating and a knack for working with HVAC and piping systems, this is an amazing opportunity for you!
Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate and detailed estimates for sheet metal projects, including materials, labor, and equipment costs
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to review bid documents and determine project requirements
- Conduct comprehensive analysis of construction drawings and specifications to identify scope of work and potential risks
- Research and analyze market trends to ensure our estimates remain competitive
- Interact with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing information and negotiate costs
- Generate and submit clear and concise proposal documents to clients
- Review project progress and adjust estimates as necessary throughout the construction process
Essential Job Functions:
- Utilize your extensive knowledge of HVAC and piping systems, building products, and construction details/design to accurately estimate project costs
- Apply relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards to ensure compliance and deliver high-quality estimates
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey project requirements and negotiate with stakeholders
- Embrace your expertise in construction accounting and ability to read construction drawings and specifications
- Display your ability to fill in the gaps in bidding documents, ensuring a complete and accurate estimate is produced
- Thrive both as an independent worker and as a collaborative team member
- Utilize word processors and spreadsheets (such as Excel) to create and manipulate documents and data
- Showcase your self-motivation and excellent time management skills to meet tight deadlines and handle changing priorities
Skills:
- Proven working experience in construction estimating or related field
- Knowledge of HVAC and piping systems, building products, and construction details/design
- Strong technical knowledge of various mechanical systems and construction methods
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Basic knowledge of construction accounting
- Experience with reading construction drawings and specifications
- Self-motivated team member with excellent time management skills
- Ability to work within deadlines and handle changing priorities
- Ability to develop thorough and accurate estimates and proposal documents
- Proficient with word processors and spreadsheets at a moderate level
