Job Description / Summary

KY3, the dominant number one station in Springfield, MO, is looking for a news videographer. If you are a go‑getter who loves breaking news and weather, can quickly turn video for a newscast, and has an eye for powerful images, this is the job for you. The successful candidate must actively seek out news with a sense of urgency and be able to shoot video and interviews with precision.

Duties

/ Responsibilities
  • Shoot and edit video for newscasts, with or without a reporter.
  • Capture creative and active live shots.
  • Collaborate with reporters, producers, and anchors to develop story ideas and live shots.
  • Maintain gear and the station‑assigned car with pride and readiness.
  • Possess or develop strong technical knowledge and the ability to learn.
  • Operate high‑tech multimedia equipment, including live equipment.
  • Remain inquisitive throughout production.
  • Produce compelling, brand‑focused stories.
  • Perform sequence shooting and editing with minimal unnecessary pans or zooms.
  • Adapt to a schedule with varying shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Collaborate well as part of a team and communicate effectively, especially during breaking news.
  • Show an eye for video composition and identify authentic human stories.
  • Remain calm under pressure and thrive during breaking news and daily coverage.
  • Seek and respond positively to feedback and critique from mentors in the newsroom.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Advanced skills in videography and professional video gear.
  • Advanced skills in non‑linear editing; experience with Edius is a plus.
  • Understanding of or willingness to learn about the Ozarks and the 31‑county DMA.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and carry 50 lbs of equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of federal, Missouri, and Arkansas video/journalism laws is a plus.
