POSITION SUMMARYThe Graphic Design Intern will gain hands-on experience creating marketing materials for a diverse portfolio of hotels, restaurants, entertainment venues, and event spaces. Working closely with OHM’s Graphic Designer and Director of Marketing & eCommerce, you’ll take what you’ve learned in the classroom and apply it to real-world projects.
This is an entry-level learning opportunity for a college student who has a foundation in graphic design and is ready to grow through hands-on experience. You do not need years of professional experience. We’re looking for someone who understands the basics of design, is familiar with professional design software, and is eager to learn how those skills translate into real marketing and production work.
The right person is curious, dependable, detail-oriented, receptive to feedback, and comfortable taking direction. You should be willing to ask questions when you’re unsure, learn from mistakes, and make thoughtful revisions based on feedback.
WHY INTERN WITH OHM?Gain hands‑on experience creating work for real hospitality, restaurant, entertainment, and event brands. You’ll build your portfolio while learning professional design workflows, brand standards, print and digital production, and how to take a project from creative direction to finished piece.
You’ll receive guidance and feedback from an experienced in‑house designer while working on real projects with real deadlines. It’s an opportunity to strengthen your skills, build confidence, and see your work used in the real world.
- Assist with brainstorming and designing marketing materials based on project specifications and creative direction.
- Create, revise, resize, and adapt layouts for print and digital applications.
- Apply design principles including layout, typography, spacing, alignment, hierarchy, and visual consistency.
- Prepare and edit images for marketing materials using Photoshop.
- Apply brand fonts, colors, logos, imagery, and other visual standards correctly.
- Make revisions based on feedback and carefully review work before submitting.
- Learn and follow professional file organization, naming, and production practices.
- Assist with preparing files for print and digital production.
- Help organize creative assets and brand files.
- Support print production and other creative or marketing projects as opportunities arise.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for a student designer with a strong foundation and a willingness to learn
. You don’t need professional experience, but you should be familiar with design principles and industry‑standard software and ready to apply what you’ve learned in a professional environment.
- Currently enrolled in a graphic design, visual communication, marketing design, or closely related degree program.
- Familiarity with layout, typography, hierarchy, alignment, spacing, and visual consistency
. - Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud
, particularly InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. - Able to follow creative direction and project specifications carefully.
- Comfortable receiving constructive feedback and making revisions.
- Willing to ask questions when instructions are unclear rather than making assumptions.
- Strong attention to detail and a habit of double-checking work.
- Able to learn new processes and tools quickly.
- Dependable, organized, and able to manage deadlines.
- Comfortable collaborating and communicating professionally.
Experience/Skills Required or Preferred
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator);
Canva experience is also helpful. - Comfortable collaborating, receiving feedback, asking questions, and learning from others.
