Position Overview

Do you love Springfield and enjoy helping others discover what makes our city special? Visit Springfield is looking for an enthusiastic, friendly, and service-minded Part-Time Visitor Experience Associate to help welcome visitors to our community and create memorable experiences from the moment they walk through our doors.

As a Visitor Experience Associate, you'll be one of the faces of Springfield. Greeting travelers, answering questions, sharing local recommendations, and helping visitors discover the attractions, restaurants, events, entertainment, Route 66 history, and hidden gems that make our community a great place to visit.

At Visit Springfield, we don't just hand out brochures - we help visitors make connections, create memories, and experience the best of our city. We're looking for someone who enjoys meeting new people, takes pride in providing exceptional service, and is excited to share Springfield's story with visitors from across the country and around the world.

What You'll Do
  • Provide a warm, friendly welcome to visitors and create a positive first impression of Springfield.
  • Help visitors discover Springfield by recommending attractions, restaurants, shopping, entertainment, events, Route 66 experiences, and other things to see and do.
  • Answer visitor questions and connect guests with helpful community resources.
  • Share your knowledge and enthusiasm for Springfield while tailoring recommendations to each visitor's interests.
  • Assist with retail operations, including souvenir and merchandise sales.
  • Help keep the welcome center clean, organized, stocked, and visually inviting.
  • Maintain and organize visitor guides, brochures, maps, and other promotional materials.
  • Work shifts at the Springfield-Branson National Airport Information Center, welcoming arriving travelers, answering questions, providing local recommendations, and helping create a warm first impression of Springfield.
  • Work alongside Visit Springfield staff and volunteers to create a welcoming, collaborative, and service-focused environment.
  • Assist with special projects, community events, visitor engagement initiatives, and other opportunities to promote Springfield.
  • Help create an inclusive and welcoming experience for visitors from all cultures and backgrounds.
  • Support additional visitor services and operational needs as assigned.
What We're Looking For

You don't have to know everything about Springfield on your first day - we can help with that! We're looking for someone who is curious about our community and excited to learn more about everything Springfield has to offer.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A friendly, outgoing personality and a genuine enjoyment of meeting and helping people.
  • A passion for Springfield and an interest in tourism, hospitality, and the local community.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • The ability to make visitors feel comfortable, welcomed, and valued.
  • Dependability and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • The ability to multitask in a visitor-focused environment.
  • Previous experience in hospitality, tourism, retail, customer service, or visitor services is a plus.
  • Experience with point-of-sale systems or retail transactions is helpful but not required.
  • A willingness to continually learn about Springfield's attractions, events, businesses, and visitor offerings.
  • Standard Welcome Center hours are M-F 8:30 a.m.

    - 4:30 p.m. & Saturday 10:00 a.m.

    - 4:00 p.m.
  • Must be available to work some Saturdays and holidays when needed.
Why Join Visit Springfield?

This isn't just a front-desk job. It's an opportunity to be an ambassador for our community.

You'll meet people traveling Route 66, families discovering Springfield for the first time, longtime visitors returning to favorite places, and travelers from around the world. You'll have the opportunity to help shape their experience and maybe even introduce them to something they never would have discovered without you.

If you're someone who loves Springfield, enjoys meeting new people, and believes a great visitor experience can start with a simple conversation, we'd love to hear from you.
