Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church is looking for the man or woman that God is calling to serve as our full-time Family and Children’s Minister. JABC would be open to exploring a part-time option if the right candidate would prefer. This person must demonstrate a passion for the Gospel, a heart for discipleship, and a desire to help establish strong Biblical foundations for our children and their families.

Our Sunday morning worship services typically consist of 75 children from Nursery-5th Grade. We desire for our children to grow in Bible Literacy, Scripture Memorization, and Application. Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church is a multi-generational church that continues to grow with young families. It is our conviction that parents should be the primary disciple rs of their children. We would love to hire someone who desires to come alongside those families and not only equip the children in our care with strong Biblical foundations, but to equip parents with the tools and resources to build those same foundations  current children’s ministry consists of 3 opportunities to disciple children on campus;
Sunday School, Children’s Church, and Awana.

The Family and Children’s Minister oversees, organizes, and manages the children’s ministry in harmony with the overarching vision and mission of the church.

By nature, this is a highly relational position that requires strong organizational-leadership skills. We are looking for someone who can direct, delegate, recruit, and organize our volunteer team for our discipleship programs, who can build strong relationships with our children and their families, who can maintain strong lines of communication with our children’s ministry volunteers, and who can oversee the outreach that we do with our neighborhood school.

A qualified candidate may be an elementary school teacher with a passion for God’s Word and the spiritual growth of children. An experienced children’s minister or a candidate with bible college or seminary education would also be qualified.

• Have a desire to serve children and their families and have a love for the local church.
• Have godly character consistent with the teaching on character in Titus 1, I Timothy 3 and I Peter 5
• Be teachable, collaborative, and humble
• Desire continued personal growth toward spiritual maturity
• Have strong organizational leadership and management skills
• Be able to recruit, organize, and equip a large team of volunteers
• Have the ability to lead, teach, and guide children and their families toward a deeper understanding of the gospel
• Have the ability to mentor and counsel with parents and children
• Be highly relational with the ability to establish and maintain strong relationships
• Have a strong understanding of the Bible, and the entire Biblical storyline
• Have the ability and desire to help children grow in their faith
