General PurposeThe Data Driven Instructional Specialist (DDIS) collaborates with principals, teachers, and departments to develop and implement action plans that build capacity for effective data- driven instruction. Through work with professional learning teams and individual teachers, the DDIS supports the implementation of standards-based curriculum and data-informed instructional practices to improve student outcomes. To ensure high-quality classroom instruction, the DDIS engages in systematic data collection and analysis, provides instructional modeling, facilitates co-planning and co-teaching opportunities, and offers targeted feedback and coaching to teachers.
EssentialJob Functions
Professional Learning Communities and Data Analysis
- Facilitate PLC processes through focused training, resources, and support to build team capacity
- Lead data literacy training and support instructional teams in assessment analysis
- Collaborate as part of the Guiding Coalition in developing and implementing building improvement plans aligned with the Strategic Plan
- Utilize district data collection platforms to support comprehensive data analysis
- Facilitate structured data conversations using protocols to inform instructional planning
Individual Coaching and Teacher Support
- Engage in focused classroom visits to gather specific evidence of student learning, calibrate instructional effectiveness using district frameworks, and provide actionable feedback aligned with district expectations regarding high-quality instruction
- Support teachers in lesson planning, pacing, and differentiation strategies
- Utilize coaching cycle with teachers to support the implementation of effective instructional strategies and best practices to improve teacher practice
- Develop individualized coaching plans focused on improving student outcomes
- Apply Adult Learning Theory principles to enhance professional practice
- Complete weekly coaching logs and required documentation
Curriculum and Instruction
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of district's guaranteed and viable curriculum across content areas to effectively support implementation and instructional delivery through the Learning Cycle
- Support implementation of district curriculum and initiatives
- Guide teachers in developing instructional agility to respond to student needs
- Assist in creating safe, productive, and collaborative learning environments
Professional Development
- Commit to continuous personal learning of district expectations for curriculum, instruction, and assessment
- Design and deliver targeted job-embedded professional learning opportunities
- Facilitate faculty and PLC discussions on instructional practices and data-driven decisions
- Support site and district-level training, as needed
- Attend required professional learning related to the position
Leadership and Collaboration
- Partner with principals to develop the school-wide approach to support the district strategic plan and initiatives
- Foster teacher leadership with growing levels of responsibility/gradual release to empower professional learning teams
- Provide differentiated support to teams and teachers
- Demonstrate high levels of professionalism in all interactions
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in job-related area from an accredited college or university
- Master’s Degree in job-related field preferred
- Elementary or Middle School experience required
- Five (5) years of successful teaching experience required
- Meaningful job experience with PLCs & data analysis
- Proficient with District platforms utilized for data analysis
- Professional development and facilitation experience
- Effective collaboration with departments and key stakeholders to support processes
Certificates, Licenses and Other Special Requirements
- Missouri Teacher Certification, required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain “Highly Qualified” status as defined by Missouri’s Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, required.
