School Counselor

Grades 5-8 School Counselor, Full-time, Liberty Campus 2026--2027

NCA is a Christian School serving grades Jr.K-12. All qualifying candidates must support the mission statement: "New Covenant Academy is a Christian School committed to achieving Academic Excellence, teaching Biblical Truth, and developing Christ-like character."

New Covenant Academy is seeking a qualified full-time grades 5-8 School Counselor beginning in August 2026 through May 2027 (contract term is equal to a teacher’s contract term with 5 extra days and is renewable annually pending board approval) at our Liberty Campus.

• Implement the Missouri Comprehensive Guidance Program.
• Ensure needs assessments of students and teachers are completed each semester.
• Guide and counsel individual students and groups to meet developmental, educational, and guidance needs.
• Assist in resolving issues with the school testing programs and interpret data to assist student growth.
• Conduct classroom guidance lessons that contribute to the academic, college/career, and personal/social development of all students.
• Assist the building principal in creating/managing the Master Schedule for Liberty Campus.
• Help students make transitions between grade levels and assist with the admissions process by testing prospective students, evaluating academic records, and conferring with the 5-8 principal regarding prospective students’ potential for academic success.
• Assist in the development and implementation of Student Support Plans to help accommodate students in need of assistance.
• Perform other related duties that ensure efficient and effective functioning of the school community such as carline duty, team meetings, lunchroom monitoring, etc.

The School Counselor shall fulfill all of the qualifications for a teacher, and in addition shall:

• Have experience in counseling methods and/or education.
• Demonstrate the ability to organize, promote, and carry out the comprehensive counseling program.
• Possess an understanding of child development stages.
• Demonstrate an understanding of methods of instruction and training.
• Hold or have the ability to obtain the Missouri Career Student Services certificate in school counseling.

Certification in school counseling with life experience in youth ministry is preferred over ministry-based counseling.

The salary is based on training and experience. Fringe benefits for the full-time teacher include medical insurance for the employee, with NCA paying for a majority of the premium. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, the ability to adjust focus, and peripheral vision. The employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, possibly run, stretch, use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and video display terminal.

The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must have the ability to demonstrate the proper techniques and skills needed for athletic participation. Other physical activities may be required related to the physical ability to perform emergency procedures, evacuating students out of the classroom (possibly through a window) or following other emergency protocols. This position may require occasional lifting or transport of objects (25-30 lbs).

Rarely, it may be necessary to lift up to 50 lbs.
