Overview
We are seeking a creative, reflective, and student-centered Part-Time Art Teacher to join our faculty. The ideal candidate is passionate about fostering artistic expression while helping students develop both technical skills and a sense of personal voice.
Grounded in a constructivist approach to learning, this role invites students to build understanding through exploration, inquiry, and hands-on experiences. The Art Teacher will also help students connect their work to Jewish values, such as creativity, care for the world (shmirat adamah), and community (Kehillah).
Responsibilities- Plan and teach engaging,
developmentally appropriate art lessons for students (grades K-8) - Design project-based learning experiences that allow students to explore ideas deeply and create meaningful work
- Integrate art with broader classroom themes and place-based learning
, helping students draw inspiration from their environment, community, and lived experiences - Introduce students to a variety of media, techniques, and artistic traditions
- Foster a classroom culture that encourages creativity, risk-taking, reflection, and respect for diverse perspectives
- Support students in reflecting on their artistic process and growth
- Display student work and contribute to school exhibits, celebrations, or community-based projects
- Maintain organization of materials and shared art spaces
- Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary connections and a cohesive student experience
- Experience teaching art to children (elementary/middle school preferred)
- Strong knowledge of a range of artistic media and techniques
- Ability to create an inclusive, supportive, and student-centered classroom environment
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Commitment to collaboration and ongoing professional learning
- Alignment with a constructivist, inquiry-based approach to teaching and learning
- Interest in integrating Jewish values and traditions into creative work in developmentally appropriate ways
- Experience or interest in project-based and place-based learning
Ability to support students in developing both technical skills and personal expression - Warmth, flexibility, and a collaborative mindset
Part-time ( 2 days per week / 8 hours)
