Substitute Teacher – Department of Elementary and Secondary Education – Missouri Schools for the Severely Disabled
Salary: $20.17 - $29.78
What You’ll Do- Design and implement individualized education program for students with disabilities using the MSSD curriculum, considering transition goals and learning environments.
- Analyze student learning style based on charted progress and adapt teaching strategies and activities to meet the student’s specific needs.
- Choose age‑appropriate, functional and safe activities, materials, equipment, and sites for teaching.
- Conduct IEP team and special education meetings.
- Coordinate behavioral support/intervention plans for students with challenging behaviors.
- Coordinate communication systems for students.
- Develop and follow an instructionally time‑efficient daily schedule for implementing students’ IEPs.
- Follow student‑specific special health‑care procedures as specified.
- Maintain a safe environment for students.
- Maintain confidentiality of student, parent, and staff personally identifiable information.
- Follow policies and guidelines of the MSSD program.
- Carry out daily self‑care needs of students as needed (e.g., toileting, diapering, feeding, handwashing, tooth brushing).
- Maintain CPR, AED, and First Aid certification as specified by MSSD.
- Eligible to be issued and receive a Missouri Substitute Teacher’s Certificate by documenting a minimum of 60 semester hours from an accredited college or university approved by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
- Missouri Teaching Certificate.
- Position requires a professional license pursuant to state law.
- Other qualifications and experience which may meet the Commissioner of Education’s opinion may be accepted in lieu of the above.
