Job SummaryAssumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, O’Fallon, MO
Create and direct an environment which leads middle school youth into a relationship with God through Jesus and the Church through the EDGE Youth Ministry Program age middle school youth in active participation in the celebration of the Eucharist, the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Church, and the experience of Catholic community. This position includes collaboration with the Life Teen High School Ministry as well as performing administrative work for both the middle school and high school programs, as directed by the Pastor.
Job Responsibilities Ministerial Responsibilities- Be pastorally available to all middle school youth from Assumption Parish, both enrolled in PSR and Assumption School.
- Establish relationships with Assumption School students in effort to involve them in the Edge Community.
- Coordinate the Edge Middle School Ministry program as preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation in tandem with the Director of Religious Education and Director of Youth Ministry.
- Recruit, train, and supervise Edge Core Team.
- Plan, prepare, and lead Wednesday Edge Sessions and FREDGE events with delegation to Edge Core Members.
- Plan, direct and coordinate the Luke 18 Retreat in collaboration with the High School Youth minister.
- Serve as an active member of the Life Teen Core Team to promote inward and outward flow of Assumption Youth Ministry Program.
- Serve as a resource person to middle school youth, core team members, parents/guardians, and parishioners.
- Provide direction, planning, coordination and evaluation of programs for the Assumption Youth Ministry Program.
- Collaborate with the High School Youth Minister in relation to Life Teen ministry and Luke 18 Retreat.
- Determine and schedule appropriate meeting locations in parish.
- Attend monthly Pastoral Staff Meetings.
- Develop and manage the Edge budget.
- Maintain contact with middle school youth and parents/guardians in a timely manner to keep them informed of activities through parish websites, emails, social media, etc.
- Communicate youth ministry events to staff and parish in a timely manner.
- Ensure all core members and volunteers are in compliance with Protecting God’s Children as required by the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
- Coordinate responsibilities for Lifeteen/High School youth ministry: schedule meeting locations in parish, coordinate for retreats and off‑campus events, handle reservations, transportation, and registrations.
- Develop and manage budget for Lifeteen/High School events.
- Communicate Lifeteen/HS events to staff, bulletin, social media.
- Ensure all Core members and volunteers are in compliance with Protecting God's Children (coordinated with Parish safe environment coordinator).
- BA degree in religious education or theology preferred;
Bachelor’s required.
- Background in youth ministry and parish ministry.
- Qualified by State and Diocesan Policies and Regulations regarding prior accusation or conviction of sexual abuse.
- Emotionally and spiritually mature.
- Ability to be responsible for variety of ministerial tasks.
- Ability to communicate the Catholic faith/teachings to youth and adults.
- Ability to attend and engage in continuing youth ministry education.
- Ability to use Microsoft products:
Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Google Drive. - Familiar with the use of modern social media.
- Possess a working knowledge of AV equipment.
- Must possess an energy level comparable to teens.
- Must be able to lift and move 50 lbs.
Evening and some weekend duties.
