Missouri Baptist University is looking to hire an Instructor/Professor. This is a full-time 9‑month appointment. The teaching focus for this position will be undergraduate level courses in Exercise Science, with potential opportunities to teach in the Health Sciences degree program or the Master’s Applied Exercise Physiology and Human Performance Program. We highly encourage candidates with specializations in applied exercise physiology, with expertise in physiological assessments, exercise testing, exercise programming, strength and conditioning, and clinical exercise physiology to apply.
SummaryFaculty members are directly responsible and accountable for ensuring the school’s education goals and objectives. These responsibilities require leadership in academic workforce areas, including meeting student retention goals, participating in educational planning, evaluating student performance, motivating, advising students, and generating program reports as needed.
- Teach courses assigned, determined by needs and/or expertise.
- Assist in curriculum development and instructional advancement in exercise science.
- Assess students' instructional needs and help coordinate a plan to address these needs.
- Participate in scholarship to teaching, application, and integration and discovery of knowledge through research and/or professional practice.
- Cultivate strategic partnerships with community practitioners related to exercise science.
- Serve on the Advisory Board for exercise science.
- Participate in School/University committees, planning sessions and accreditation site visits.
- Master’s degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Human Performance, Strength and Conditioning, Sports Science, or related discipline from an accredited institution with relevant licensure and/or field experience.
- Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in Exercise Physiology, including Physiological Assessment, Fitness Assessment and Exercise Prescription, and Exercise Testing, and a desire to serve on thesis committees.
- Ph.D. (or terminal degree) in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Human Performance, Strength and Conditioning, Sports Science, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
- NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certifications, as well as membership in ACSM and/or NSCA, ACSM Exercise Physiologist (ACSM‑EP), ACSM Clinical Exercise Physiologist (ACSM‑CEP).
- Experience working with laboratory equipment (e.g., metabolic carts, ECGs, medical BIA instruments, lactate analyzers).
