Overview

New Covenant Academy is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time High School Math Teacher (employment agreement renewable annually pending board approval) beginning in August 2026. The position will be at the Warrior Campus location, 3304 S. Cox Rd., Springfield, MO.

Responsibilities

The role of the teacher is to engage and inspire students to learn the subject matter and impart skills and attitudes that will positively contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christian men and women. The teacher will integrate Biblical principles throughout the curriculum, plan and implement a course of study to meet the individual needs of students, prepare and submit lesson plans, and assess student progress while demonstrating mastery of the subject matter taught.

The teacher must also communicate and collaborate effectively with parents, students, administration, and faculty for the success of each student. Courses to be taught may include Algebra I, Algebra II, and Project Lead the Way – Computer Science (training provided). While not required, an ideal candidate would be willing to serve as our high school robotics sponsor.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have a valid teaching certificate from Missouri (or another U.S. state) and hold (or be able to obtain) an appropriate endorsement in the area of instruction. Candidates must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and an evident love of God, a love of students, and a passion for teaching. Candidates will be expected to teach the NCA math curriculum (as determined by the Math Department Head in conjunction with the Academic Leadership Team) in accordance with provided scope and sequence documents.

Preferred candidates will have a strong sense of classroom management and a willingness to receive instructional coaching as needed.

Benefits & Compensation

The salary base for a beginning teacher is $40,000 and goes up incrementally based on education and years of teaching experience. Fringe benefits:
The school pays for a majority of the employee's medical premiums. Optional insurance plans are available at the employee's expense. 50% tuition remission for your own qualified children to attend New Covenant Academy.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus, and peripheral vision. The employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, possibly run, stretch, use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and video display terminal.

The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must have the ability to demonstrate the proper techniques and skills needed for athletic participation. Additional physical activities may be required related to emergency procedures, evacuating students from the classroom (possibly through a window) or following other emergency protocols. This position may require occasional lifting or transportation of objects (25–30 lbs) and, rarely, up to 50 lbs.

Work

Environment

Fluorescent-lit classrooms, gymnasium, cafeteria, and other areas where students may be. Noise levels will vary throughout the shift.
