The Director of Student Success – Technical Education is responsible for the oversight and operations of the Technical Education Student Success Center, including training, data analysis, and supervision of the team. The position supports college-wide student success initiatives leading to increased enrollment, retention, and goal attainment through student-centered operations. The role leads a team dedicated to helping students proactively with career, financial, academic, and life planning, and tracks key indicators of student success.
EssentialFunctions
- Supervise the daily operations of the Technical Education Student Success team.
- Collaborate with the Student Success leadership team to identify best practices and develop ongoing updates to processes.
- Build relationships with deans, department chairs, faculty, and other college departments to provide support to students.
- Supervise and support the Student Success Representative responsible for managing student inquiries and appointments and ensuring a welcoming approach.
- Evaluate College Navigator progress in meeting performance measures and take corrective action.
- Hold staff accountable for achieving established student success measures, including enrollment, retention, and student success measure goals; implement performance improvement strategies when expectations are not met.
- Monitor College Navigator caseloads to ensure equitable distribution and adjust assignments as needed.
- Coordinate monthly priorities and data metrics for College Navigators.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of Student Success training materials and technical assistance documents.
- Support an enrolled student caseload equal to 15% of the average caseload for the team.
- Demonstrate strong working knowledge of financial aid processes and ensure accurate guidance to students and staff.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for complex or unresolved student issues within the Student Success team.
- Ensure staff are equipped to resolve Tier 1 and Tier 2 student issues, providing next-level escalation before escalating to another department.
- Work with the Coordinator of Student Affairs Training & Development to train and onboard new team members and coordinate professional development.
- Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.
- Comply with college policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned, including attending college functions, serving on committees, and attending community events.
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
- One year of leadership and supervisory experience.
- One year of experience in case management, advising, financial aid, training, or relevant experience.
- Prior experience using data to evaluate and make changes to operations.
- Ability to switch between interpersonal skills and data management quickly and often.
- Ability to motivate a team towards a common goal.
- Strong problem‑solving, organizational, and relational skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
- Preferred:
Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning. - Preferred:
Three years of leadership and supervisory experience. - Preferred:
Previous experience in Student Affairs in higher education. - Preferred:
Demonstrated commitment to student-centered support. - Preferred:
Experience tracking metrics and working with key performance indicators. - Preferred:
Experience working within a collegiate setting. - Preferred:
Experience with Colleague and TargetX or other CRM software.
