Position summary

The admissions counselor is a student-centered, data-informed, proactive case manager who serves as the first and primary point of contact from student admittance through first registration. Admissions counselors provide personalized, one-stop support by assisting students with admissions processes, program exploration, enrollment requirements, financial aid initiation, registration readiness, and connection to college resources. This role is designed to help students successfully navigate the onboarding process, overcome barriers to enrollment, and make informed decisions that support their educational and career goals.

Admissions counselors maintain an assigned caseload of prospective and applicant students and use proactive outreach, regular student contact, institutional data, and student success measures to anticipate student needs and provide timely support. Admissions counselors are expected to build strong relationships with students, collaborate across departments, and provide consistent, accurate guidance aligned with college policies, enrollment processes, academic program requirements, and the student success model.

Admissions counselors facilitate presentations and provide support in group settings, including high school orientations, first flight programming, campus visits, and other enrollment-related events. They assist students through multiple service modalities, including appointments, virtual communication, crm outreach, and walk-in support.

Admissions counselors work in partnership with college navigators and other student success staff, academic affairs, financial aid, registrar, student account services, and other college offices to ensure consistency of student experience, singularity of mission, and overall institutional success. The essential functions of this position require a physical presence on site.

Essential job duties

* act as the primary point of contact for student applicants, providing proactive support throughout the onboarding and enrollment process, including personalized guidance on admissions, program exploration, financial aid, and registration readiness.

* maintain regular communication with prospective students through various methods such as appointments, phone calls, emails, texts, crm outreach, and group presentations to enhance enrollment and student success.

* assist students by facilitating program fit, guiding financial aid initiation, supporting first registration, and connecting them with their college navigator for ongoing support.

* aid visiting students with admissions, registration, and enrollment while clarifying institutional policies and requirements.

* utilize institutional data and enrollment trends to identify students needing additional support, prioritize outreach, monitor onboarding progress, and contribute to enrollment goals.

* implement and evaluate orientation and onboarding experiences, including group initiatives like high school orientations and first flight programs, for continuous improvement.

* build relationships with students, faculty, and staff to resolve barriers and ensure timely, accurate information is provided, while collaborating with various departments such as financial aid and registrar services to address student concerns.

* maintain accurate documentation of student interactions in college systems and participate in training to stay informed on admissions processes, academic programs, and college policies.

* support students in making informed enrollment decisions by explaining options, setting expectations, and outlining academic and financial implications.

* contribute to team initiatives aimed at enhancing enrollment, onboarding effectiveness, and overall student experience, while exhibiting professionalism and compliance with college policies and regulations.

* perform additional duties as assigned, including attending college functions, serving on committees, participating in community events, and promoting college-wide student success initiatives.

Required knowledge, skills & abilities

* bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.

* strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across diverse populations. A desire and aptitude to improve systems and processes.

* demonstrated ability to improve systems, processes, and workflows.

* proficient in computer applications, including microsoft office suite, with the ability to learn new software quickly.

* excellent written, verbal, and public communication skills across multiple platforms.
