Assistant/Associate Professor of Counseling
DEPARTMENT:
Behavioral and Social Sciences
CLASSIFICATION:
Fully remote teaching online courses, full-time salaried position based on 11month contract.
SUMMARY:
The Assistant Professor of Counseling is responsible for teaching core and specialty coursework in either school counseling or clinical mental health counseling tracks.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Earned doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision (conferred no later than one year from hire due to accreditation standards), along with relevant certification and license to practice in school counseling and/or clinical mental health counseling.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary responsibilities include teaching online courses with required weekly synchronous classes in the graduate counseling program. The typical teaching load will consist of 24 graduate credit hours (approximately 8 courses, equivalent to 32 faculty load hours) over an 11-month period. Additional expectations and responsibilities include:
- Maintaining a specific program leadership role as assigned upon hire based on the current needs of the program, such as coordinating admissions interviews, overseeing CACREP compliance and reports, coordinating practicum/internship field placements, overseeing student organizations and activities, and other leadership assignments,
- Utilizing the Canvas LMS in compliance with program templates and requirements,
- Attendance at annual baccalaureate and graduation ceremonies,
- Attendance at yearly program residency,
- Remote participation in university wide, department and program meetings, faculty, seminars/training, and community meetings,
- Advising and mentoring students both academically and spiritually,
- Remote participation in assigned committees,
- Course development and revision as needed for maintaining university and program accreditation standards,
- Active engagement in professional associations, practice, or service in accordance with program accreditation standards,
- Behavior consistent with professional standards and expectations outlined in the faculty handbook.
Candidates must have a personal commitment to the Christian faith and an ability to support the identity of Evangel University as an Assemblies of God institution.
* Due to accreditation
standards, faculty must have doctoral degree conferred within a year of employment.
