Male Assistant Residence Director (ARD) - Part-Time

Personal ResponsibilitiesWisdom
- The ARD is responsible for being sensitive to the prompting of the Holy Spirit, to the needs of individual students and to relying upon His guidance in ministering to all students.
Stature
- The ARD is to model a lifestyle committed to overall health and wellness.
Favor with God
- Priority is to be given to spiritual well-being by selecting a local Christ-centered church for regular worship, by developing a fellowship with Christian peers, and by continually seeking the Lord in prayer and study.
Favor with Mankind
- The ARD is encouraged to seek supportive mentorship from other faculty and staff members as well as friends outside the Evangel community.
Administration
- The ARD will participate in the RA & Leadership conferences and weekly Student Life meetings as their schedule permits.
- The ARD will meet monthly with the RD and Dean of Students to discuss personal and job-related issues.
Professional Development
- The ARD will attend student development conferences and webinars at the discretion of the Dean of Students.
- The ARD is to stay current with student development theory and issues through assigned reading and webinars.
Relationship with Residents
- The ARD is to intentionally build connections with students throughout the evening hours Monday – Friday.
- The ARD will provide leadership by helping students to adjust to residential living, promoting a sense of community among hall members, and offering educational opportunities that enhance their development.
- The ARD is expected to know residents by name and engage them in conversation on a consistent basis.
- The ARD is to serve as a resource and support to all students.
- The ARD will assist with the initial interview with students who are in violation of EU standards, pass on completed investigation information to the Dean of Students, and offer support throughout the disciplinary process.
- The ARD moves toward physical and mental health crisis and conflict.
- The ARD assists students to connect their "calling" and "strengths" to Residence Hall and campus positions.
Hall Stewardship
- The ARD will uphold the Biblical perspective of interdependence, accountability, respect for others, reconciling differences and balancing responsibility with increased freedom.
- The ARD will attempt to integrate faith with all developmental learning situations.
- The ARD will draw upon theories of student development in recognizing the complex causes of age-appropriate behavior.
- The ARD will be an authority for educating resident students regarding university standards and implementing the same.
- The ARD is a Residence Hall authority for the safety, wellbeing, and satisfaction of the hall residents.
Supervisory Roles
- The ARD assists in recruiting, participates in the selection, trains, and supervises the RA staff in conjunction with the RD.
- The ARD is involved in the RH government and assists with hall elections and events in conjunction with the RD.
- The ARD works with the RD and Director of Student Ministries regarding the identification and selection of campus and hall discipleship positions.
Administrative Duties
- The ARD assists with facilitating check-in and check-out procedures within the Residence Hall.
- The ARD assists with hall and campus communication.
- The ARD evaluates the health and behavior of residents as well as staff effectiveness via observation, conversation and annual Qualtrics and MACHB surveys.
Daily Office Duties:
- Assist RD with lessons and agendas for weekly RA meetings
- Plan for 1-1 meetings with RAs of same gender
- Follow-up with conduct issues related to behavioral incidents
- Visit students who were reported as ill or missing classes
- Stay informed of Student Development trends
Weekly or Biweekly Oversight:
- Report CARE TEAM concerns each Tuesday to Dean of Students
- Follow-up with conduct issues related to classroom and chapel attendance
- Assist with planning of Leadership Team (Resident Assistants, Office Assistants, Hall Council, Discipleship staff) meetings
- Assist with development of an overall plan and calendar for all-hall programming and activities
