General PurposeThe Lift Off Educator will deliver and provide support to the instructional program with specific responsibility for developing student success in academics and/or skills; supervising students in a part‑time online setting; collaborating with teachers, professional staff and administrators to deliver pre‑designed curriculum and coursework; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students’ parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.
Launch teachers are expected to be positive promoters of online learning opportunities to internal and external stakeholders.
- Provides synchronous and asynchronous instruction to students who participate in gifted education programs.
- Administers subject‑specific assignments for assessing student competency levels.
- Advises parents/legal guardians on student progress, communicating expectations and achievements, and developing improvement methods.
- Analyzes performance data to enhance student achievement.
- Assesses student progress toward objectives and provides high‑quality feedback to students, parents and administration.
- Collaborates with Launch Online Staff, curriculum facilitators, school personnel, and parents to improve overall student outcomes and achieve instructional goals.
- Demonstrates methods to perform classroom/subject‑specific assignments for effective education addressing individual student learning.
- Facilitates student learning by creating a learning environment, integrating technology, encouraging collaboration, and achieving pre‑determined academic and life skills outcomes.
- Maintains confidential and non‑confidential records (grades, test scores, attendance, anecdotal records, lesson plans) to document student progress per guidelines and legal requirements.
- Monitors students and manages behavior in an online environment to provide a safe, positive learning environment.
- Participates in trainings to convey and gather information necessary for duties.
- Reports health and safety issues to administrators or appropriate agencies, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in a job‑related area (required).
- Related work experience (preferred).
Special Requirements
- Background clearance satisfactory to the District (required).
- Consistent access to high‑speed internet and personal device (required).
- Must reside in Missouri; exceptions for partner districts (required).
- Missouri Elementary 1‑6 Teaching Certification (required).
- Gifted Certification (preferred).
- Ability to gain and maintain “Highly Qualified” status per Missouri DESE (required).
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of delivering age‑appropriate lessons with clear objectives, measurable outcomes, technology integration, and classroom management.
- Skills to perform complex tasks, maintain organized records, apply assessment instruments, and operate standard office equipment and software applications.
- Ability to gather, collate, classify data, and use job‑related equipment; problem‑solving, develop relationships, set expectations, monitor progress, provide effective feedback, collaborate, apply critical thinking, adapt to priorities, maintain confidentiality, exhibit tact and patience, and work flexible hours.
- Responsibilities include working under limited supervision using standardized practices, directing others within a small unit, and using resources from other units; opportunity for significant impact on organizational services.
Physical Requirements
- Work environment primarily inside with moderate noise and temperature.
- Sedentary work with occasional lifting up to 10 pounds.
- Requires manual dexterity, visual acuity, and adequate movement; must be able to perform tasks such as using hands and fingers, speaking, and walking.
