Assistant Professor in Water Science

The School of Earth, Environment, and Sustainability (SEES) invites applications for a tenure-track Water Science faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 2027 with expertise in Geomorphology, Hydrology, or Watershed Science. A Ph.D. in Physical Geography, Geology, or a closely related field is required at the time of appointment. The successful applicant will teach introductory physical geography general education courses, undergraduate and graduate courses in geomorphology and water science, and courses in the selected candidate’s area of expertise.

Candidates who can teach upper-level courses in more than one subdiscipline of physical geography and water science are encouraged to apply.

Successful candidates are expected to develop an active, externally funded research program and mentor graduate and undergraduate students. The ideal candidate will complement current SEES strengths, support physical geography majors, and develop collaborations both within SEES and with other programs across the college and University. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to foster understanding of, respect for, and the development of skills for engaging with individuals from diverse cultures or backgrounds.
