Geotechnical Driller – Springfield, MO
As a Geotechnical Driller, you will be responsible for the primary operation and maintenance of our drill rigs, with a strong preference for those experienced with CME or Geoprobe equipment. Your expertise will be vital in executing a variety of geotechnical methods, including hollow stem augers and split‑spoon sampling, as well as specialized techniques like mud rotary and rock coring when project needs arise.
Responsibilities- Lead daily drilling operations, including setup, tool selection, and sampling procedures.
- Perform soil, rock, and groundwater sampling in accordance with project specifications.
- Apply knowledge of geotechnical drilling, including soil sampling, rock coring, groundwater measurements, and planning geotechnical explorations.
- Maintain clean, organized drill rigs and related equipment. Troubleshoot malfunctions as needed.
- Accurately document drilling operations on field logs.
- Work with project managers to meet schedule, safety, and quality standards.
- Transport equipment to and from job sites; safely operate company equipment.
- Work outdoors in varying site and weather conditions.
- Occasional out‑of‑town travel.
- Maintain a safe work environment in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
- Communicate with the team leader daily to coordinate field drilling, sampling and testing activities.
- Someone with a strong work ethic, reliable, self‑motivation, positive attitude, good communication skills and a commitment to safety will be successful.
- Ability to work with supervision of Mid‑level Geologist or Geotechnical Engineer and/or team leader in planning projects, preparing reports, and maintaining equipment.
- Self‑motivated and customer service oriented.
- Ability to work effectively as an individual as well as in a team environment.
- Ability to work outdoors lifting up to 30 pounds indoors and heavy lifting—up to 80 pounds at waist and up to 50 pounds to shoulders.
- Valid, clean Motor vehicle license.
- Direct, hands‑on experience operating geotechnical drilling equipment is preferred.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to diagnose and resolve basic equipment issues.
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Comfortable working in all weather conditions; willingness to work overtime when needed.
