Professional Engineer – Traffic Engineering (Springfield, MO)
The City of Springfield’s Department of Public Works is seeking a qualified Professional Engineer to support the Traffic Engineering Division. This position may be underfilled as Engineer III, Engineer II, or Engineer I.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop and analyze planning studies such as traffic impact studies, traffic volume and speed studies, safety studies and crash data analysis, parking studies; design and manage projects for traffic calming, sidewalks, and intersection improvements; and review development plans for code compliance and access management. Benefits and SalarySalary ranges are as follows:
- Professional Engineer: $68,203.20 - $ annually
- Engineer III: $63,523.20 - $ annually
- Engineer II: $56,742.40 - $97,427.20 annually
- Engineer I: $52,208.00 - $89,648.00 annually

Qualifications and Requirements Professional Engineer- Bachelor’s Degree in an accredited Engineering discipline
- Four years of engineering work experience, commensurate with the assigned specialty area
- Professional Engineer license and State of Missouri license within six months of employment
- Bachelor’s Degree in an accredited Engineering discipline
- Three years progressively responsible engineering experience
- Engineering Intern (EI) certificate within the probationary period, or Master’s Degree in Engineering may substitute
- Bachelor’s Degree in an accredited Engineering discipline
- Two years progressively responsible engineering experience
- Master’s Degree may substitute for one year of required work experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in an accredited Engineering discipline
