Design Engineer (Finance)
Summary Join our vibrant group of design and R&D engineers to help develop the next generation of high-performance electrical interconnects. Work as part of a cross-functional team to design innovative solutions for aerospace, military, and space markets. The ideal applicant is self-driven, creative, hands-on, and not afraid to ask questions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Create and evaluate design ideas, considering form, function, cost, and manufacturability.
- Develop design improvement concepts.
- Design components to meet industry, customer, and cost requirements.
- Define engineering materials, production costs, and technical specifications.
- Participate in cross-functional product development efforts.
- Support project tracking and provide technical assistance across departments.
- Work effectively both independently and as a team.
- Interpret engineering drawings and relevant specifications.
- Uphold Positronic's standards of integrity, quality, and operational excellence.
- Identify hazards in the workplace and report them to management and/or the safety coordinator.
- Collaborate with the EHS department to meet local, state, and federal regulatory requirements, including OSHA, NFPA, DNR, EPA, and Amphenol sustainability practices.
- Work with the Quality department to ensure compliance with AS9100 certification standards.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related field AND 1 year of experience in a related technical field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- The level of this position will be determined based on the selected candidate’s qualifications, skills, and relevant experience.
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, reach, and reach overhead.
- Must be able to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
- Requires use of technical equipment, measuring devices, and computer systems.
- Requires finger dexterity, near vision, and ability to interpret visual data.
- Work is performed primarily in an office environment with exposure to machinery, moderate noise, and standard shop materials.
- Travel is required on occasion.
- Knowledge Working knowledge of mechanical/electrical engineering principles and connector design.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and industry/military specifications.
- Understanding of production processes, cost estimation, and material selection.
- Familiarity with CAD tools and Microsoft Office products.
- Growing knowledge of quality systems and root cause analysis methods.
- Skills Experience with 2D/3D CAD software required, Solid Works preferred.
- Experience with MS Office:
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. - Clear communication with cross-functional teams and customers.
- Ability to evaluate design-function relationships and manufacturability.
- Skill in interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
- Time management and task coordination.
- Abilities Ability to analyze and interpret technical documents and specifications.
- Ability to identify and communicate basic design issues or concerns.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under supervision.
- Ability to apply logic and reasoning to solve routine design problems.
