About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer with strong hand-on expertise in CATIA 3
DEXPERIENCE
, particularly Generative Shape Design (GSD), complex surfacing, solid modeling, and assembly design
.
The ideal candidate will support New Product Development (NPD) activities from concept through production, developing and modifying complex 3D CAD models, assemblies, production drawings, and engineering documentation. The role will also be responsible for engineering changes, GD&T, manufacturability, and collaboration with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and modify complex 3D CAD models for New Product Development using CATIA 3
DEXPERIENCE
. - Create and manage complex surface and solid models using CATIA GSD / Generative Shape Design techniques.
- Perform design optimization and implement engineering changes based on product requirements.
- Develop and validate assemblies for fit, function, manufacturability, and performance.
- Create detailed production/manufacturing drawings
, including dimensions, tolerances, and GD&T annotations. - Manage ECR/ECO/ECN activities while maintaining design data integrity and configuration control.
- Support product development activities throughout the complete design lifecycle
. - Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and other cross-functional teams.
- Support prototype development, testing, manufacturing, and production activities.
- Ensure designs comply with customer specifications, engineering standards, design requirements, and PLM processes
. - Maintain accurate CAD models, engineering documentation, and product data within PLM systems.
- Identify opportunities for design improvement, cost reduction, product optimization, and manufacturability.
- Support engineering changes and ensure timely implementation of approved design modifications.
- Provide technical support during manufacturing and production launch activities.
Required Qualifications:
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of relevant mechanical/product design experience preferred.
- Strong hands-on experience with CATIA 3
DEXPERIENCE
. - Strong experience with CATIA GSD / Generative Shape Design
. - Proven experience in 3D surface and solid modeling
. - Strong assembly design experience.
- Experience creating production/manufacturing drawings
. - Strong knowledge of GD&T.
- Experience managing ECR/ECO/ECN and engineering change processes.
- Hands-on experience with New Product Development (NPD) and product development lifecycle activities.
- Strong mechanical product design and engineering fundamentals.
- Experience supporting manufacturing and production activities.
- Understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with PLM systems/processes and engineering data management.
- Ability to interpret and work with customer specifications, engineering standards, and design requirements
. - Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience designing marine vessels, boats, yachts, or other marine products
. - Manufacturing/production support experience.
- Experience with CATIA V5 in addition to CATIA 3
DEXPERIENCE. - Advanced experience with complex surfacing
. - Experience with PLM tools and engineering configuration management
. - Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and production processes.
- Experience working with customer-specific design standards and specifications.
- Experience supporting prototype development and production launch.
- Experience with cross-functional product development teams.
