The nurse informaticist (NI) functions as a practitioner, consultant, educator, and evaluator to maintain and improve system services. Responsibilities include leading the department through design of clinical processes, solutions, technology workflow and successful adoption aligned with organizational strategy. The NI manages relationships with departments, provides system management and clinical subject matter expertise, supports change management, identifies opportunities for improvement, and ensures achievement of project outcomes.
The NI serves as a liaison between clinical departments and IT, leveraging clinical and informatics knowledge to implement innovative solutions. This role establishes trusted relationships with department leaders and collaborates across teams to plan, communicate, document, implement, and evaluate systems and services to support high-quality clinical workflows and application development. The NI evaluates clinical utilization and workflow, including patient safety and clinical outcomes, researching and recommending workflow improvements.

Education- Required:
Bachelors of Science in Nursing - Preferred:
Master’s degree in Healthcare, Informatics, Business or related field (example MSN, MBA, Master’s in Nursing Informatics)
- Required:
7 years clinical informatics experience
- Assist with workflow development to align with regulatory guidelines
- Communicate sensitively and motivate team members and clients
- Action oriented with ability to take informed risks within scope of responsibility
- Stay current on technology, client needs, and industry trends
- Leverage data analytics to identify improvement opportunities and redesign workflows for quality, patient safety, and regulatory compliance

RN license active in the state of Missouri - Required:
ANCC Nursing Informatics Certification within 1 year of hire or Epic Clinical Informaticist Certification
- Required:
Bachelors of Science in Nursing
- Required:
5 years clinical informatics experience - Preferred: ANCC Nursing Informatics Certification
- Participation on organizational working groups addressing strategic or transformation needs
- Leads project management to coordinate and integrate standards of care across clinical departments
- Mentors new and junior informatics team members
- Decisively makes high-quality decisions under uncertainty
- Sets clear expectations and follows up
- Can share sensitive messages in a motivating manner
