The Assistant Professor will provide didactic instruction within the physical therapy curriculum, with primary emphasis on preparing students to evaluate and treat pediatric patients with acute, recurrent, and chronic neurological and/or orthopedic conditions, supported by demonstrated clinical expertise in the management of pediatric populations. Primary teaching responsibilities will include Neuromuscular II - Pediatrics, the advanced pediatric elective course, and selected foundational skills courses, such as Therapeutic Interventions I and II.
The Assistant Professor will also be expected to supervise and mentor students in clinical and laboratory settings, as well as during integrated clinical experiences within the Missouri State University Physical Therapy pro bono clinic. Given the scope of clinic responsibilities associated with this role, the successful candidate must possess a minimum of five years of clinical experience, including service as a clinical instructor, to ensure effective support of student learning, clinical skill development, and coordination with clinical education processes.
Additional responsibilities include serving as a research advisor, supervising research advisees, contributing to curricular development, and promoting student growth in critical thinking, problem-solving, and manual skills.
Faculty members are further expected to engage in scholarly activity and to provide service to the department, college, university, and profession. Clinical practice opportunities are available and encouraged.
