The Milk Lab Technician Lead coordinates the safe preparation and delivery of neonatal feedings, including human milk and specialized formulas, ensuring accuracy and compliance with safety standards. They lead workflow processes, support team members, manage inventory and documentation systems, and drive quality improvement efforts to maintain high standards of care.

Demonstrates advanced proficiency in mathematical calculations, with the ability to accurately perform complex formula and human milk fortification tasks and successfully meet competency standards. Possesses strong computer and technical skills, with the ability to navigate specialized systems, interpret data, and troubleshoot workflow challenges effectively. Exhibits professional judgment, critical thinking, and excellent interpersonal communication skills to collaborate seamlessly with the multidisciplinary team and ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities- Lead and coordinate the preparation of neonatal feedings, including human milk and specialized formulas, ensuring accuracy through precise calculations, adherence to established formulations, and aseptic technique
- Train and support Milk Lab Technicians on preparation procedures, safety protocols, equipment use, and efficient workflow practices
- Verify new or complex feeding orders with a registered dietitian and ensure appropriate standardized recipes are followed
- Utilize clinical information systems to manage feeding orders, generate labels, and maintain production accuracy while demonstrating advanced competency with Milk Lab equipment and technology
- Ensure proper storage and timely delivery of prepared feedings to designated unit refrigerators
- Maintain strict sanitation standards within the Milk Lab, including cleaning and disinfection of work spaces, utensils, equipment, and storage areas
- Maintain logs, audit records, and data tracking systems to support regulatory compliance and quality improvement initiatives
- Lead workflow coordination and continuous process improvement efforts to uphold safety, efficiency, and high standards of neonatal nutrition care
