Position: Charge MRI Scrub Radiology Technologist (3 x 12's) - Operating Room (OR)

BJC Health Care System is hiring a Full‑Time Charge MRI Technologist – Operating Room (Day Shift) for Barnes‑Jewish Hospital New Plaza West Tower (St. Louis, MO).

Position Details:

  • NO CALL!!!
  • Day Shift

    Hours:

    3 days per week at 12‑hour shifts
  • Full‑Time – 40 Hours per Week
  • Benefits Eligible
  • Advanced Modality Technologist position
  • Radiologic / Radiology Technologist
  • Siemens MRI Machines
  • Experienced Radiologic Technologist
  • Training for position will be on day shift at 5 days per week for about 3 months before moving to the 3 days per week rotating schedule

Requirements:

  • Associate degree or higher in a related field
  • Certification as a Registered Technologist in Radiography – R.T.(R)
  • 2 or more years of Radiology Experience

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Performs diagnostic imaging procedures in at least one advanced imaging modality (defined as MRI, CT, IVR, Mammography, Bone Density, Cardiac Catherization) on adults and/or pediatric patients for the purpose of diagnosis and/or treatment, and quality control. Assists staff technologist in prioritizing and problem solving patient care or imaging issues, and serves as a resource person. Delegates tasks to ensure proper daily operations.

Assumes responsibilities of supervisor in their absence. Assists in the development and training of students and/or new employees. Provides continuing mentorship to advanced module technology staff.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patient and equipment for procedures.
  • Performs studies independently, in on‑call situations, portable exams, and other sites as required by work area.
  • Oversees shift operations to include daily workflow, assignments, lunch schedules, and adjusts priorities and assignments to best meet department needs. Enters/escalates IT and equipment tickets.
  • Serves as the clinical resource and expert for the technologists. Responsibilities include problem solving, assisting with difficult exams, and mentoring.
  • Serves as the clinical liaison between the team and supervisor. Ensures that proper information is communicated from the team and escalated to the supervisor appropriately. Maintains/orders necessary supplies for department needs.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Associate or Trade School Equivalent

Experience

  • 2‑5 years

Supervisor Experience

  • No Experience

Licenses & Certifications

  • IEMA – Illinois only, excl MRI
  • RTR, CT, MR, M, BD, CI, VI, RCIS, RCES

Preferred Requirements

Experience

  • 5‑10 years

Licenses & Certifications

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
