The Sonographer – Lead operates imaging equipment and software, mostly ultrasound equipment, to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Responsibilities include coordinating daily workflow and serving as lead when leadership is unavailable. This role requires proficiency in operating imaging equipment, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining high-quality imaging standards. The Lead Sonographer position also requires a strong commitment to patient care, technical expertise, and collaborative communication with patients and healthcare professionals to provide optimal care.

Position Details:

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

Graduate of an accredited school of Sonography and completed required clinical hours

Experience:

2 years of relevant experience OR graduate of Bachelor degree program

License:
State licensure may be required depending on the specific state of practice.

Certifications/Registrations: ARDMS/ARRT/CCI and 2 applicable advanced registries/certifications within the applicable work area;
Basic Life Support (BLS)

In the state of Arkansas, ARDMS-RVT OR CCI-RVS OR ARRT-VS may be required within 12 months of hire and/or transfer depending on scope of role.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Ability to lead and motivate a team, manage schedules, and coordinate daily operations.
  • Capability to make informed decisions regarding imaging procedures, patient care, and team management.
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously, such as performing imaging procedures while supervising team members.
  • Knowledge in proficiency producing diagnostic images with the ability to recognize technical abnormalities
  • Knowledge of a variety of advanced procedures as applicable
  • Knowledge of safe & proper machine operation, machine emergency procedures and radiation safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of protocols and ability to make adjustments as needed
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
  • Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
