The Springfield-Greene County Health Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Environmental Public Health Specialist with option to underfill as Environmental Public Health Technician.

Salary shown is for the higher-level position – Environmental Public Health Specialist – (Shown below is both salary ranges)

  • Salary Range (Environmental Public Health Specialist): $45,905.60 - $81,660.80 Annually
  • Salary Range (Environmental Public Health Technician - Under Fill): $39,436.80 - $63,523.20 Annually

The Environmental Public Health Specialist position will monitor regulated facilities for compliance with local, state and federal public health/environmental laws. Position will investigate complaints related to environmental hazards and infectious agents and educate stakeholders on regulations as they apply to their facility using the latest scientific knowledge. Will engage community partners in developing policies and procedures to utilize resources to protect the public's health.

Qualifications And Requirements Experience, Education, and Training Environmental Public Health Specialist
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in one of the physical or natural sciences. Degree must includes an algebra course or higher level math and 30 semester hours in basic sciences;
AND
  • Two years of professional work experience in the environmental or public health field;
OR
  • Three years direct teaching experience in a natural sciences, environmental health or public health discipline.
Environmental Public Health Technician (Underfill option)
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in one of the physical or natural sciences. Degree must includes an algebra course or higher level math and 30 semester hours in basic sciences.
Licensing/Certification
  • Must possess a valid drivers license.
  • Depending upon assignment, incumbent may be required to obtain Missouri Environmental Health Specialist credential within first 30 months of employment.
