PayrollSpecialist
Position Overview
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing and coordinating payroll operations across multiple locations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness. This role supports both union and non‑union payroll, maintains strong internal controls, and partners with HR and operations to ensure smooth payroll processes. The ideal candidate brings strong technical payroll expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to manage confidential information in a fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Process weekly payroll for hourly employees, including union and non‑union populations
- Assist with payroll operations and provide support to field‑based payroll staff
- Serve as backup for salaried payroll processing as needed
- Support payroll‑related onboarding activities, including employee setup and E‑Verify
- Partner with HR to support new hires, benefits enrollment, and employee updates
- Generate W‑2s and other required payroll documents in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Prepare certified payroll reports and other compliance‑related filings
- Monitor and improve internal payroll controls and processes
- Produce ad hoc payroll and reporting requests for internal stakeholders
- Develop training materials and provide guidance to team members and internal users
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to professional standards
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- 5+ years of payroll experience
- Experience in construction, manufacturing, or similar industries preferred
- Experience processing multi‑state payroll and strong understanding of federal and state tax regulations
- Knowledge of payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Viewpoint Vista, or similar platforms)
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Team‑oriented with strong interpersonal skills and follow‑through
