Manager, Attorney Experience & Development

Location: St. Louis, MO (Hybrid 2 days in office / 2 days remote)

Compensation: $150,000-$180,000 + bonus and comprehensive benefits

Our client, a highly respected national law firm, is seeking a Legal Talent Development Manager to join its growing Talent Development team. This is a newly created position offering a unique opportunity to help shape attorney development strategy and build innovative learning programs that support lawyer growth, engagement, and long-term success.

This role will partner closely with firm leadership, practice groups, and talent professionals to design and deliver attorney development initiatives across multiple practice areas. The ideal candidate combines experience in attorney development, legal talent management, professional development, coaching, or learning and development with a strategic mindset and a passion for developing legal talent.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with practice group leaders to identify attorney development needs and implement targeted training and career development programs.
  • Design and manage curricula focused on substantive legal training, professional skills development, and attorney growth.
  • Develop innovative learning initiatives, including experiential learning opportunities and technology-enabled training solutions.
  • Support mentoring, sponsorship, coaching, and career development programs for attorneys at various levels.
  • Advise attorneys on professional development, performance management, and career progression.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness through feedback, metrics, and ongoing assessment, making improvements where needed.
  • Stay informed on emerging trends in legal education, attorney development, and AI-enabled learning tools.
  • Collaborate with firm leadership and cross-functional stakeholders on strategic talent development initiatives.
  • Mentor and support junior team members while contributing to the overall success of the Talent Development function.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in attorney development, legal talent management, professional development, learning and development, or a related function within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Strong understanding of attorney career development, adult learning principles, and talent management best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across all levels of an organization.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and project management skills.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or J.D. strongly preferred.
  • Interest in emerging technologies and innovative learning solutions, including AI applications within professional development.

Additional Information:

Personal Time Off (PTO) is offered on an accrual basis up to 184 hours a year, 13 Paid Holidays, and up to 6 weeks of Paid Parental Leave. PTO and holiday hours are prorated based on hire date within the calendar year.
