BJH is hiring for a Spanish Interpreter. This is an onsite position. We are looking for a minimum of 2 years of medical interpreting experience. Must be flexible on hours.

Recognizing its excellence in nursing care, Barnes-Jewish Hospital was the first adult hospital in Missouri to be certified as a Magnet Hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Refugee Health and Interpreter Services is a division of the BJH Center for Diversity and Cultural Competence. Its mission is to bridge cultural and communication gaps that might otherwise block the delivery of patient centered and clinically effective care to immigrants and others with language barriers. It consists of 40 individuals who provide interpretation, translation and/or cross cultural bridging for over 41,000 health care encounters in more than 81 languages annually.
Although based at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, this diverse team functions across the Washington University Medical Center campus as well as providing outreach services in the local community.
Interprets for non/limited English-speaking patients and English speaking health care providers in BJH, Children's Hospital and Washington University Medical Center health care environments. Promotes effective care of non-English speaking patients through cultural and linguistic bridging.
Responsibilities- Assists with operations of unit services and integration with other departments.
- Provides direct interpretation and establishes a communication link between limited English proficient (LEP) patients, families and English speaking healthcare providers.
- Ensures all written materials given to patients are produced in a language they can comprehend through culturally sensitive translation.
- Provides sensitive service to patients and families experiencing the adjustment process.
