* POSITION SUMMARY:

*** The Golf Course maintenance summer intern is responsible for chemical applications, irrigation troubleshooting, and exposure to small crew leadership opportunities.
**
* ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

**** Performs chemical applications - boom spraying greens, tees, and fairways.
* Performs maintenance on Rainbird/Toro sprinkler head and troubleshoots as needed.
* Sands topdressing of greens.
* Hand waters bent grass greens in the transition zone using a pogo sensor.
* Leads small project crew when opportunities arise.
* Networks with the other on course assistants, course superintendents as well as the Director of Agronomy.
* ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.
*** EXPERIENCE/

QUALIFICATIONS:

**** Must be currently enrolled and working towards a Turfgrass Management/Landscaping Degree
*** KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
**** Service-oriented mindset and capable of making every guest feel valued.
* Strong communication skills
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Competent in working with multiple systems, including Microsoft Office and power point.
* Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
* A multi-tasker, prioritizing time effectively.
* Able to work a varying shift including weekends and holidays.
* Basic Computer Skills

* PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

**** Ability to stand for extended periods of time, work safely, communicate effectively, understand, and carry out written and oral directions, and establish good working relationships with co-workers.
* Lift, reach, bend, twist, push, pull, squat, grasp and use arm-hand coordination on a consistent basis.
* Have the ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally.
*** INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:
**** Performs tasks and duties under direct supervision, using well-defined policies and procedures. Work is reviewed by supervisor. Limited opportunity exists for exercising independent judgment and decision making.
