Description:
Ministry Function The Disaster Services Operations Manager, assigned to the RDC East, supports the Disaster Services Working Group by providing assistance and/or oversight for day-to-day operations, such as fleet maintenance and warehouse management, at Convoy of Hope’s Georgia location. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Supports the Senior Director of DS Operations by assisting with projects and helping manage day-to-day operations of the DS warehouse and fleet located in Georgia.
Deploys as part of initial response team, when needed, to provide oversight to the setup and function of the fleet and/or site support for field operations. Provides leadership on projects during active responses and/or peacetime as assigned. Duties may involve supervisory responsibilities to ensure completion. In collaboration with the VP of Disaster Services and/or the Senior Director of DS Operations, coordinates the movement of the DS fleet in both peacetime and active responses.
In collaboration with the VP of Disaster Services and/or the Senior Director of DS Operations, coordinates the maintenance and repairs of the DS fleet when needed as well as the procurement of vehicle, equipment, and warehouse supplies. Assists the DS Safety Training Manager with various training components, as needed. During active disasters, serves as field supervisor, as assigned. During peacetime, may be assigned to various projects within the DS Working Group.
When needed, supports other RDC East daily operations, as assigned. Follows general and equipment-specific safety rules. Uses appropriate safety protection equipment and other safety devices, as required. As a member of the Program Division, supports other programs, as assigned. Fulfills all other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities A bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Two or more years of experience in disaster services or a related field is required. Is able and willing to deploy, often on short notice, for up to two weeks at a time. Demonstrates ability to positively contribute to team projects, cooperate with team members, and assist supervisors with planning and evaluation.
Displays excellent interpersonal communication, mediation skills, and tact. Displays excellent verbal and written communication skills for creating, editing, and proofreading correspondence. Possesses strong organizational and problem-solving skills, detail orientation, and the ability to multitask and manage deadlines. Exhibits ability to use PC and/or Mac software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace. Is at least 25 years of age and able to obtain a Class A driver’s license (CDL) within one year of employment.
Has or can obtain “Serv Safe Manager” certification within 90 days of employment Has or can obtain applicable Forklift Certification within 60 days of employment. Has or can obtain chainsaw operator and safety certification within one year of employment. Has or can obtain CPR/AED/Basic First Aid certification within 60 days of employment. Can complete required FEMA and NIMS courses prior to employment or within six months of employment.
Attends and actively participates in Convoy of Hope At Home Week meetings and activities as a required responsibility to the organization and fellow team members. Serves as an advocate for the ministry, striving to nurture, broaden, and develop financial and other resource opportunities to support and expand organizational and program ministry. Positively represents the ministry of Convoy of Hope, including its mission statement and core values, to all outside constituencies.

Supervisory Responsibilities This position may have direct supervisory responsibilities of volunteers and/or staff.
