Job Description
This role is responsible for leading the maintenance function within a manufacturing environment, ensuring operational reliability, asset performance, and regulatory compliance. The position provides strategic and hands‑on leadership to ensure equipment, utilities, and facilities operate safely, efficiently, and within defined performance standards. The role also oversees team development, continuous improvement initiatives, and cost management tied to maintenance operations.
- Build, lead, and develop a high‑performing maintenance team capable of supporting all facility and production equipment
- Ensure all machinery and systems operate within established specifications, tolerances, and safety standards
- Design and implement a comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance strategy to reduce downtime and extend asset life
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, efficiency, and cost optimization
- Utilize maintenance systems to plan, schedule, and track work, including labor, parts, and standard job procedures
- Coordinate planned downtime activities and shutdown events using structured project planning tools
- Serve as the primary escalation point for critical equipment failures and emergency maintenance needs
- Partner with cross‑functional teams to evaluate equipment modifications, upgrades, and capital investments
- Analyze cost‑benefit scenarios for new equipment and maintenance strategies; provide recommendations to leadership
- Manage spare parts inventory and ensure availability of critical components while controlling costs
- Develop and manage departmental budgets, including repair, maintenance, and utilities expenses
- Establish and maintain maintenance policies, procedures, and performance benchmarks aligned with industry best practices
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and operational regulations and standards
- Oversee workforce planning, including hiring, scheduling, performance management, and employee development
- Support a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across the department
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve operational challenges and improve plant performance
- Perform additional duties as required to support business objectives
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- 5–8 years of experience in maintenance, engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting
- Prior management experience preferred
- Exposure to production environments; experience in regulated or food‑related industries is a plus
- Relevant technical certifications or licenses (e.g., electrical, mechanical, boiler, refrigeration, or similar) are advantageous
