General Description

As a Safety Manager
, you will lead project and divisional safety efforts for Concrete Strategies, owning the implementation of corporate safety and health standards in compliance with Federal, State, and Local requirements. You’ll set strategy, coach project teams and subcontractors, and drive a zero-injury culture across assigned projects. In addition to program leadership, you will direct Safety Engineers/Coordinators, ensure timely completion of deliverables, and hold stakeholders accountable for results.

Key Responsibilities Program Ownership & Planning
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve the project safety program and site‑specific Safety Plans.
  • Translate corporate standards into clear field practices, KPIs, and compliance checkpoints.
  • Identify trends and execute proactive initiatives to eliminate incidents (near‑miss/hazard reporting, leading indicators, recognition programs).
Orientation, Training & Culture
  • Oversee and ensure delivery of new‑hire/jobsite orientations
    ; verify documentation and access control for cleared workers.
  • Plan and facilitate training that meets OSHA/Concrete Strategies standards; align content to project risks and phase of work.
  • Champion daily Stretch & Flex and other engagement activities; recognize safe work methods in the field.
Subcontractor & Partner Management
  • Prequalify and review subcontractor safety programs; ensure they meet or exceed project requirements.
  • Require each subcontractor to designate a qualified safety representative with authority to correct issues.
  • Lead pre‑planning meetings prior to start of work; set expectations, controls, and escalation paths.
Inspections, Audits & Enforcement
  • Lead daily and weekly jobsite inspections; document findings, assign corrective actions, and verify close‑out.
  • Maintain toolbox talk logs and safety meeting cadence (weekly with subs; routine with project staff).
  • Exercise stop‑work authority for unsafe acts/conditions; elevate per protocol.
Incident Management & Reporting
  • Direct incident investigations and root‑cause analyses; produce timely reports and corrective action plans.
  • Track leading/lagging indicators; brief project leadership in monthly safety overviews and at staff meetings.
  • Maintain all required safety records and regulatory documentation.
Emergency Preparedness & Fire Prevention
  • Partner with the Project Superintendent to establish and test evacuation, fire prevention, and fire control procedures.
  • Coordinate drills, equipment inspections, and emergency response resources.
Leadership & Administration
  • Coach and develop Safety Engineers/Coordinators; provide feedback, ride‑alongs, and development plans.
  • Coordinate with Operations, HR, and Risk on claims management, return‑to‑work, and compliance items.
  • Support corporate goals, budgeting for safety resources/PPE, and vendor/training selection.
Qualifications
  • Education: B.S. in Safety & Health or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: 5+ years of construction safety experience, including lead or supervisory responsibility on active jobsites; strong grasp of safety/environmental principles and field implementation.
  • Certifications: OSHA 30-hour (required);
    OSHA 500 Outreach Trainer (preferred).
    CHST/CSP a plus.
  • Skills: Proven leadership, influence without authority, and crisp written/verbal communication.
  • Tools: Proficient with Microsoft Office and common construction management platforms; strong documentation discipline.
  • Language: Bilingual Spanish and intercultural communication skills preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Frequent on‑site presence at active construction projects with exposure to moving mechanical parts, heights, airborne particles, outdoor weather, and electrical risks.
  • Physical ability to climb stairs/ladders, negotiate work areas under construction; close/peripheral/depth vision and focus adjustment.
  • Use of hands to handle objects/tools; ability to sit, stand, talk, hear, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed.
