We are seeking an experienced Project Controls Manager to lead project controls efforts on a large-scale pharmaceutical manufacturing design and construction project valued at approximately $50–60 million
. This is a long-term opportunity supporting a multi-year capital expansion and modernization program at an active manufacturing campus.
Up to 20% travel - reimbursed.
This role will serve as the central point of coordination for all project controls activities, providing leadership to a team of schedulers and cost analysts while ensuring seamless integration between schedule, cost, and project execution. The ideal candidate combines strong technical project controls expertise with exceptional leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills in complex capital projects.
Responsibilities- Lead and coordinate a project controls team consisting of approximately 5–6 schedulers and cost analysts
- Provide direction, prioritize work activities, and ensure alignment across project controls functions
- Review team deliverables before they are presented to project leadership
- Drive accountability and consistency across scheduling and cost management activities
- Review, analyze, and maintain detailed project schedules
- Identify missing scope, schedule gaps, and potential execution risks
- Ensure schedules accurately reflect project progress and planned work
- Monitor schedule performance and identify variances from baseline
- Collaborate with schedulers to develop recovery plans and corrective actions
- Oversee cost reporting and analysis performed by project cost analysts
- Evaluate the relationship between schedule performance and project costs
- Integrate schedule updates with cost impacts to provide a comprehensive view of project health
- Assess change orders and their impact on project budget and schedule
- Lead project re‑baselining efforts resulting from significant scope changes
- Ensure schedule and cost baselines remain accurate and aligned throughout project execution
- Support implementation of project control processes during evolving project conditions
- Proactively identify schedule, cost, and scope risks
- Perform root cause analysis for project variances
- Develop recommendations and mitigation strategies to minimize project impacts
- Monitor trends and communicate emerging risks to project leadership
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all project controls matters
- Provide clear, concise updates on project performance to project managers and leadership
- Translate technical schedule and cost information into actionable business insights
- Support project teams by answering questions related to schedule, budget, and project performance
- Prepare and present project controls reports, dashboards, and key performance metrics
- Maintain project controls documentation and ensure reporting accuracy
- Support executive reporting and project status reviews
- 10+ years of experience in Project Controls, Project Management, Cost Engineering, Scheduling, or related disciplines supporting capital construction projects
- Experience leading project controls on large engineering, design, or construction projects
- Strong background integrating project scheduling and cost management
- Experience managing project baselines, forecasting, and change management
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional project controls teams
- Experience identifying project risks and implementing corrective actions
- Pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, industrial manufacturing, or highly regulated capital projects
- Large EPC, design‑build, or engineering consulting environments
- Experience supporting projects through design, procurement, and construction phases
- Experience working on active manufacturing site expansions or brownfield projects
- Expert knowledge of project scheduling methodologies
- Strong understanding of project cost controls and forecasting
- Experience with project controls reporting and performance metrics
- Ability to evaluate complex schedule and cost impacts
- Proficiency with project controls software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and cost management systems is preferred
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong leadership and team coordination abilities
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills

- Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced project environment
