POSITION PURPOSE

The responsibilities of the Crew Chief will be for any duties appointed by the Shop Manager. The Crew Chief will be expected to accomplish these tasks by directing those appointed to work under direct supervision. The Crew Chief will be expected to see that the persons performing the work properly complete all paperwork related to associated duties, and will also ensure an Inspector is called for final inspection of all work done on the aircraft as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES/

DUTIES
  • The Crew Chief will ensure the timely accomplishment of all maintenance repairs and inspections in accordance with the approved policies and regulations.
  • Monitor progress of aircraft inspections and repairs at the Shop level and ensure that efficient and economical procedures are utilized.
  • Ascertain that personnel under Crew Chief jurisdiction are qualified to accomplish duties as assigned.
  • Head up and direct the group assigned with initiative. Laying out and assume control of the quality and quantity of work produced by the group assigned under direct supervision.
  • Mentoring by giving on‑the‑job instruction to the group assigned on related technical information job procedures safety and general shop and hangar practices.
  • Properly executing and processing of all forms required in conjunction with the group and work assigned.
  • Maintaining the hangar and shops in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Ascertaining that all work performed by their group is accomplished in accordance with the Company Maintenance Manual and FAA standards.
  • Scheduling maintenance activities to meet scheduled dates of equipment being maintained.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Airframe and Powerplant Mechanics Certification.
  • Minimum one (1) year or more of diversified aircraft and engine maintenance and repairs preferred.
  • Knowledge of aircraft, accessories, components, fasteners, and other hardware.
  • Knowledge and Experience with the following aircraft are preferred but not required: ATR, Embraer EMB-120, EMB-135/145, Fairchild SA226/227, Saab SF340A/B, S2000, Beechcraft King Air.
SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Knowledge and Experience with the following aircraft are preferred but not required: ATR, Embraer EMB-120, EMB-135/145, Fairchild SA226/227, Saab SF340A/B, S2000, Beechcraft King Air.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
  • The Crew Chief will be responsible for the job assignment and oversight of the technicians assigned to their projects.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
  • RII recognition training.
  • EWIS training.
  • Human Factors training.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT
  • May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft.
  • Will handle dirty parts and lubricants.
  • Required to operate power vehicles, machinery, various hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, etc.
