Executive Director
Children's Smile Center (CSC) is a non-profit organization that operates dental clinics to serve the oral health needs for children from low-income families in Christian, Stone, Taney, Dade, Barry, and Lawrence Counties in Missouri. The Executive Director will champion the mission of CSC, establish the overall strategy of the organization, and oversee the strategic and operational functions of all CSC programs and staff in the areas of dental operations, facilities, financial operations, community engagement, and fundraising.
The Executive Director will ensure that client needs are met at the very highest professional level of children's oral health and serve as the face of CSC and represent its mission and core values in all public settings.
The Executive Director will uphold and honor the company mission, vision, core values, and objectives, follow all company policies and procedures, and oversee the planning, organizing, and directing of all CSC operations. The Executive Director will report to the Board of Directors on a quarterly basis, a summary of programs and services delivered to clients, financial performance, staffing and facility updates, community engagement and fundraising, and future needs.
The Executive Director will monitor daily operations of the organization, providing executive direction for program strategies and efficiencies in conjunction with CSC management. The Executive Director will oversee all accounting and bookkeeping functions of CSC, direct the work of the business manager as it relates to financial operations, monitor and consult with contracted accounting services for daily financial operations, provide quarterly financial reports to the Board of Directors, provide executive direction and decision-making for all financial operations, including corrective actions if needed, oversee and direct the management of all financial assets, including cash reserves and endowment funds, initiate billing, monitor receivables and ensure payment of all expenses for all fundraising events, initiate and execute the annual CPA audit with opinion and the IRS Form 990 submission, prepare an annual budget and submit it to the Board of Directors at the annual meeting for approval, monitor monthly, comparing actual results to forecasted income and expenses, and provide the Board on a quarterly basis any variances from the annual budget.
The Executive Director will champion a strong work culture that attracts and retains people while driving the organization's mission, provide coaching and support for direct reports and when needed for all other employees, provide leadership to the management team in their responsibility to manage their staff, work with management to identify and address staffing requirements for efficient operations, in conjunction with CSC staff, initiate and lead all fundraising efforts, as the face of CSC, build and maintain relationships in conjunction with CSC staff, that result in appropriate fundraising success, oversee and monitor all CSC operations to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
The ideal candidate for this position will have 10 or more years of progressive leadership experience, with experience in nonprofit, healthcare, dental, or other mission-driven organizations preferred but not required. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 or more years of management or supervisory experience, demonstrated leadership and management skills, strong understanding in financials and accounting, strong community engagement or being willing to be engaged in the community, a seasoned leader who understands the current trends in oral healthcare and/or non-profit organizations, demonstrated empathy in helping children and their families, a strong aptitude for financial and accounting, experience in hiring, managing, and motivating staff, experience in developing and implementing successful fundraising plans, knows how to establish relationships with local community groups, highly effective in a leadership role that requires clear communication skills and decisiveness, including engagement with local media, excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment, self-motivated and proactive, demonstrating initiative and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, including public speaking and presentations, creative and resourceful problem solver who approaches challenges with a solutions-oriented mindset, collaborative team player who works effectively across departments while remaining accountable for individual responsibilities, flexible and adaptable, with the ability to adjust to changing priorities and business needs, and a positive, enthusiastic attitude with a commitment to delivering exceptional service…
