PTM Operator (Finance)

Summary:

The PTM Operator conducts set-ups and operates precision transfer machines to produce high quality parts. This role requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

• Conduct complete changeovers for machines to transition to new parts.
• Study blueprints and layout sheets to determine machining to be done, dimensions of parts permissible tolerances, and plans sequence of operations.
• Visualize movement of machine parts, work pieces, and tools in each operation in relation to others and decide on station and timing of each operation to assure efficient use of tools and time.
• Select cutting speeds, feed rates, depth of cuts and cutting tools to be used, based on experience and knowledge of metal properties and shop mathematics, or by referring to tables, charts, or instructions on layout sheets.
• Install part loaders, collets, and bushings.
• Mount cutting tools in spindles on machines, and verify their position using gauges and other measuring instruments.
• Operate machines through a cycle, adjust tool positions, and machine controls as needed to allow for factors such as timing and clearance between moving parts.
• Start, observe, and certify machine conformance of first run and sample work pieces to specifications, using assorted measuring instruments.
• Replace worn tools.
• Ensure machines are operating and producing quality parts at an efficient rate.
• Uphold Positronic's standards of integrity, quality, and operational excellence.
• Identify hazards in the workplace and report them to management and/or the safety coordinator.
• Collaborate with the EHS department to meet local, state, and federal regulatory requirements, including OSHA, NFPA, DNR, EPA, and Amphenol sustainability practices.
• Work with the Quality department to ensure compliance with AS9100 certification standards.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Education and Experience:
  
  High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum 2 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Physical:
  Long periods of standing with occasional walking and sitting. Regular bending, twisting, reaching overhead, and pushing/pulling. Frequent use of hands and arms for handling tools, fine motor tasks, and repetitive motion. Must be able to lift 25 lbs frequently and 50 lbs occasionally.
• Work performed on production floor with constant loud noise and airborne particles. Involves regular exposure to oil, chemicals, and non-harmful fumes. PPE such as safety glasses are required.

• Knowledge of precision transfer machine operations, machine tools, and technical documentation.
• Production scheduling, material flow, and performance reporting.
• Quality and compliance standards including AS9100 and OSHA safety regulations.
• Use and calibration of precision measurement tools.

• Reading and interpreting technical drawings and production requirements.
• Conducting inspections and maintaining documentation.
• Precision measurement and mechanical troubleshooting.
• Prioritize competing tasks and adapt to changing production needs.
• Identify and resolve mechanical or quality issues in real time.
• Maintain focus and accuracy during detailed or repetitive tasks.
• Perform physically demanding work over extended periods.
