We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to oversee and coordinate the maintenance operations of our food packaging facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of all machinery, equipment, and systems while maintaining compliance with safety and food industry standards. This hands-on leadership role involves managing a team of technicians, troubleshooting issues, and implementing preventive maintenance strategies to minimize downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership:
Supervise, train, and evaluate a team of maintenance technicians to ensure tasks are completed effectively and efficiently. Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance feedback. - Equipment Maintenance:
Oversee the inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of equipment, including packaging machines, conveyors, compressors, and other plant systems. - Preventive Maintenance:
Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment. - Compliance and Safety:
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with OSHA standards, FDA regulations, and company policies. Promote a culture of safety and enforce the use of proper PPE and safe work practices. - Downtime Management:
Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergencies, coordinating repairs to minimize production disruptions. - Inventory Management:
Monitor and manage spare parts inventory, ensuring critical components are in stock. Work with suppliers to source replacement parts and negotiate contracts. - Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, inspections, and compliance with regulatory standards. - Collaboration:
Work closely with production, quality assurance, and engineering teams to ensure equipment meets performance and food safety standards. - Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities to improve maintenance procedures and equipment reliability. Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives and recommend upgrades or replacements as necessary.
- Education:
High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or Associate's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering is preferred. - Experience:
- 5+ years of maintenance experience in a food packaging, manufacturing, or similar environment.
- 2+ years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of packaging machinery, mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Proficiency in PLC troubleshooting and familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
- Regulatory Knowledge:
Familiarity with food industry standards such as SQF, HACCP, and GMP requirements. - Problem-Solving:
Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for both mechanical and electrical systems. - Communication:
Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively direct the team and report to management.
- This position involves working in a food manufacturing facility, which may include exposure to temperature variations, noise, and standing for long periods.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, or overtime as needed to meet production demands.
