Graham Packaging Company is seeking a Wheel Operator II for our Joplin, MO facility. This position supports our C Shift, working 6:45 PM to 7:00 AM on a rotating schedule.
The Wheel Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring blow molding wheel equipment to ensure consistent production of high-quality containers. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to identify and respond to production issues, and a commitment to maintaining safety and quality standards throughout the process. Previous Machine Operator experience is required.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role requiring mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot equipment in a production environment.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor plastic blow molding wheel equipment to produce high-quality containers in a safe and efficient manner
- Perform mold, insert, and color changes, along with basic machine adjustments to improve efficiency and reduce scrap
- Monitor material systems (resin, dryers, color systems) to ensure proper processing conditions
- Conduct regular quality checks to ensure products meet established standards
- Troubleshoot minor mechanical and processing issues; elevate more complex problems as needed
- Assist with preventative maintenance and support maintenance personnel with repairs
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with all safety, quality, and GMP standards
- Accurately complete required production and quality documentation
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to support production goals
- Assist in training new operators and support team operations as needed
- Support other production roles during downtime or as needed
Experience with blow molding, injection molding, or similar manufacturing processes is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience required (blow molding or plastics experience preferred)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot production equipment
- Basic computer skills for data entry and documentation
- Ability to work a 12-hour night shift (6:45 PM – 7:00 AM) on a rotating schedule
- Reliable attendance and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards
- Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing production needs
The expected salary range for the position described in this posting is made in accordance with the legal mandates of certain jurisdictions within the United States. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual qualifications and experience.
