Job Overview

Promote safety, maintain a sanitary food environment, and ensure that only the highest quality product is made. Work shifts include weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Operate production equipment under the supervision of the shift supervisor.
  • Monitor product volume, temperatures, times, and pressure readings; record data and ensure it is properly documented.
  • Know the type of product, its source, and all handling procedures involved in each processing step.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area throughout the facility and perform general housekeeping of production areas.
  • Receive product, start, run, shut down, and clean the dryer/evaporator and associated equipment.
  • Collect hourly production readings, monitor bag house, check air pressure, and notify the supervisor when something is out of specification.
  • Operate pallet jack and forklift, and prepare bags to fill using the established label and numbering system.
  • Print out packaging labels, fill, weigh, seal, and load bags on pallets; lift 60lb. bags up to 6ft. high.
  • Bag, blend, and sample finished powder, palletize product, and move pallets (may require a forklift or pallet jack).
  • Comply with company food safety and quality policies, adhere to all SOPs, procedures, and quality requirements.
  • Perform elementary mechanical and carpentry repairs as instructed by supervision.
  • Engage in continuous process improvement, anticipate problems, and implement solutions.
  • Maintain cooperative working relationships and communication with employees from all departments.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED certificate required.
  • Prior experience in agriculture, production, or manufacturing preferred.
  • Ability to prepare and operate all packaging machinery.
  • General knowledge of production/manufacturing methods.
  • Ability to read gauges and record data in a legible manner in accordance with established procedures.
  • Knowledge of sanitary and safety guidelines for handling inedible protein materials.
  • Strong literacy in English (reading, writing, speaking) to prepare and comprehend logs, schedules, and communicate with employees.
  • Technical skills to operate forklift/pallet jack and perform basic math.
  • Physical ability to move freely throughout the plant, climb, sample, clean equipment, and lift weights up to 80lb. when necessary.
  • Capacity to remain calm and professional during peak periods and troubleshoot malfunctions.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, work daily, and work overtime as needed.
  • Willingness to assume additional responsibilities and perform tasks independently.
  • Commitment to company values and ethics, adherence to GMPs, and compliance with all corporate, regulatory, food, safety, quality, and sanitation requirements.
  • Participation in E‑Verify.
Physical Requirements
  • Approximate 12‑hour day; may be longer during peak season.
  • Standing, sitting, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and stooping as needed.
  • Frequent reaching above shoulder, climbing stairs and ladder, and working in confined spaces.
  • Occasional and frequent lifting of weights from 1 to 80lb. at various levels.
  • Frequent pushing, pulling, and maneuvering of equipment and products.
  • Operating moving machinery, including forklifts, and operating a motor vehicle as part of the job.
  • Operating office equipment and computer requiring occasional hand movements and frequent finger manipulation.
  • Good vision and hearing, corrected to normal if necessary.
  • Ability to be mobile throughout required work areas.
