Stainless Fabrication Inc. (SFI) is a specialized manufacturer of shop- and field-fabricated custom stainless steel tanks and processing equipment. Founded in 1985 and now part of Winnipeg-based Exchange Income Corporation, SFI serves a wide range of industries, including food and dairy, beverage, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, animal health, biodiesel and ethanol, water and wastewater, and wineries, breweries, and distilleries. The company designs and builds vessels from a few gallons to over 600,000 gallons, meeting customer specifications and codes such as ASME, API, and UL-142, using various stainless and nickel alloys.

Role Description

The Project Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Springfield, MO, responsible for overseeing custom tank and processing equipment projects from initiation through delivery. This role plans project scope, schedules, and budgets; coordinates internal engineering, fabrication, quality, and field teams; and communicates regularly with customers on requirements, milestones, and status updates. The Project Manager monitors production progress, manages changes, and resolves issues related to design, materials, logistics, and installation to keep projects on time and within budget.

Daily responsibilities include tracking project documentation, reviewing drawings and specifications, supporting inspections and FAT, and ensuring compliance with relevant codes and customer standards. The role also collaborates with purchasing, expediting, and logistics to align material availability and shipment timing with project needs.

Essential Job Functions
  • Answers customer calls while project is in the manufacturing phase.
  • Answers questions from engineering and shop personnel.
  • Attends engineering and shop kick‑off meetings.
  • Communicates with personnel to provide technical advice, resolve problems, outline work plan, and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
  • Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel.
  • Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
  • Reviews status reports and modifies schedules or plans as required.
  • Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project, and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
  • Coordinates project activities with government regulations.
  • Prepares project reports for management, customer, or others.
  • Follows all safety guidelines as noted in Safety Manual.
  • Assists all supervisors and performs other duties as needed and directed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction of tanks.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for moving goods by various manners, including the relative costs and benefits.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Skill of determining how money will be spent to get the work done and accounting for these expenditures.
  • Skill of giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Skill of talking to others to convey information effectively.
  • Skill of using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Education and Experience
  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from 2-year college or technical school; or 6 months-1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
