Position Overview

As a Warehouse Operations Supervisor, you will play a key role in overseeing daily warehouse operations in Inventory Control and PPS (Pick/Pack/Ship) departments at Carr Lane Manufacturing’s St. Louis facility. This role manages team leads, supervisors, and approximately 15–20 employees across both departments, ensuring efficient material flow from receiving through shipping while identifying practical opportunities to improve workflow, accuracy, and safety.

This is a hands‑on leadership role that balances floor‑level execution with continuous process improvement.

Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Staffing
  • Manage staffing decisions, performance, and development of team skills for both departments while fostering a culture of accountability and teamwork.
  • Coordinate with HR on attendance management, disciplinary actions, and compliance with company policies.
Daily Operations
  • Prioritize and coordinate daily workload across both departments to meet shipment deadlines and production schedules.
  • Monitor order accuracy, on‑time shipment rates, and inventory accuracy.
  • Support department in maintaining inventory accuracy through cycle counting programs and ERP reconciliation.
Process Improvement
  • Identify and implement ways to reduce errors and increase efficiency across inventory control and PPS operations.
  • Lead root‑cause analysis on recurring issues (mispicks, shipping errors, inventory discrepancies) and drive corrective actions.
  • Recommend investments in equipment, technology, or layout changes with clear cost‑benefit justification.
  • Track and report key department data to management.
Safety & Compliance
  • Maintain a safe working environment; enforce OSHA standards, PPE requirements, and forklift safety protocols.
  • Partner with Quality Manager to conduct regular safety audits and incident investigations; implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with hazardous materials handling, DOT shipping regulations, and export documentation requirements.
Cross‑Functional Coordination
  • Work with Sales and Customer Service on order prioritization, expedited shipments, and customer‑specific packaging or labeling requirements.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing and Production to align inbound material flow with production schedules and outbound shipping commitments.
Qualifications Required
  • 3–5 years of warehouse or distribution supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams of employees, including scheduling and performance management.
  • Track record of identifying and implementing process improvements with measurable results.
  • Experience with ERP systems and standard warehouse management tools.
  • Working knowledge of inventory control principles.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations, DOT shipping requirements, and workplace safety standards.
Preferred
  • Experience in precision manufacturing, tooling, or industrial distribution.
  • Associate's degree in business administration, or related field.
  • Lean or continuous improvement training or certification.
  • Experience with international shipping documentation and customs compliance.
