Auto Punch Press Operator - 3rd Shift
This position reports to:
Patrick Sexton – 3rd Shift. The work model is on site, and the hourly pay range is $22.70 - $28.59 (shift premium for 2nd & 3rd shift).
- Operate the auto press safely for a minimum of 8 hours per day, 5 days a week.
- Perform stretching exercises at the beginning of every shift.
- Review Job Safety Analysis sheets, safety checklist, personal protective equipment (PPE), and daily clean‑up instructions with the supervisor.
- Follow all ABB safety policies, safety training, and hazard communication, wearing required PPE such as safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, cut‑resistant gloves, and safety sleeves when needed.
- Ensure emergency stops and light curtains are operational and locate emergency stops for the press you are running.
- Verify the Press Release Form (QFSL-A001) is present at the press and signed by a supervisor before each run.
- Visually inspect parts for burrs, chips, slug marks, bent teeth, and missing features before running on continuous feed.
- Check flatness 3 times per coil; perform back‑to‑back flatness checks.
- Verify inventory tags, coil numbers, and blueprints match the work order.
- Feed material through the straightener, feeder, and into the die, then slowly inch the material through the die.
- Apply sufficient lubrication to the strip.
- Monitor the loop between the presses and the scrap conveyor to maintain proper operation.
- Use an air wire twister to wire stacks of lamination.
- Turn off the press, dereeler, straightener, and feeder after each die run.
- Fill out a Red Tag for all non‑conforming material and move it to the non‑conform domain.
- After the flywheel stops, remove the end coil strip, send it with the die to the Tool Room, and wipe all oil off the die and surrounding area.
- Report injuries, accidents, and near misses to the supervisor immediately.
- Lift or carry up to 50 pounds, grip, turn, push, bend, and occasionally reach above shoulder level, and pull as required.
- Walk or stand for long periods and maintain production pace.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and other equipment such as electric chain hoists, pneumatic shears, pneumatic wire twisters, electric pallet jacks, manual pallet jacks, and fine controls to complete complex tasks.
- Assist in press‑line equipment set‑up and die jam clearance.
- Read, write, and comprehend work orders, blueprints, inventory tags, and shipping labels.
- Maintain regular work attendance, arrive on time, and stay until the end of the scheduled workday.
- Work daily and weekend overtime, including short‑notice overtime, as needed.
