We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Draftman to join a team in Springfield, MO. This role is ideal for someone who not only creates precise drawings but also understands how parts are manufactured and costed. The right candidate will play a critical role in bridging design, estimation, and production—ensuring projects are accurate, buildable, and delivered efficiently. This associate to hire role offers the opportunity to be deeply involved in both the design and execution phases of projects.
You'll play a key part in ensuring that what's designed can be successfully built—on time and on budget.
- Create detailed fabrication drawings for production using Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar CAD software
- Utilize Autodesk Inventor (minimum 2 years of experience required) to design and model parts and assemblies
- Interpret blueprints, technical specifications, and customer requirements
- Prepare accurate material takeoffs and cost estimates for projects
- Collaborate closely with shop and production teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable
- Review and revise drawings as needed to address fabrication challenges or improve efficiency
- Communicate with customers and vendors to clarify design details, specifications, and pricing
- Support seamless project handoff from estimating to production
- Identify potential design or production issues early and propose effective solutions
Draftman Requirements:- Minimum 2 years of experience using Autodesk Inventor or similar CAD software
- Experience in metal fabrication, machining, or manufacturing environments
- Strong proficiency in CAD software (Inventor, AutoCAD, or equivalent)
- Solid understanding of materials, labor, and fabrication processes
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications
- Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills for working with internal teams, customers, and vendors
- Goes beyond drafting with understanding of how parts are actually built
- Ability to identify and resolve issues before they reach production
- Comfortable owning both the technical drawing and the cost estimation aspects of a project
- A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and efficiency
